  • great tune to Weekend Magazine and great memories of a truly Australian programme (CountDown) through and through by ABCTV

  • since I saw it I've shown it to many of the crew who worked on it.. here's my list of who we see

    1:20 Director Paul Drane

    1:35 Vision Mixer Peter Holland

    2:30 VT operator June Williams

    2:35 Producers Assistant Pauline Sell?

6:10 crane cam Ian Margocsy ?

7:57 mms lighting console Clive Sell?

    8:07 Floor Manager Tony Vuat

    JoeM (Countdown vision mixer 1980-86)

  • This is an amazing document of the times. 'Countdown' was an extremely important part of my life. Up until around 1981, it was required viewing for any self respecting Aussie music fan. The Countdown years 1974-1981 were just the best for me. Thanks for uploading this.

  • You know I could honestly say that at that exact moment "COUNTDOWN" was taken off air in JULY of 1987, The AUSTRALIAN PUB ROCK Scene was finished. Since it's dismissal, I don't think there never was or there never will be a show as so influential as "COUNTDOWN"

  • here, here

  • here, here, here...well said!!!

  • and check out Peter Holland..........

  • Thanks for sharing this rare 1975 video. Looks like an reel-reel tape transfer. I also have ABC TV Weekend Magazine recorded on U-matic back in 1978.

  • Cool FD, by the way, I am a big fan of your channel. I have subscribed it under my alias 'Australianads'.

  • Bring back all those bands from the 70s, Skyhooks and Sherbet especially

  • Great show similar too the UK program "Top Of The Pops" which is now also off the air.I think the television world is missing something with the passing of these music chart programs.

  • MOLLY without a hat!!!!

  • Love it, good to see it again, bring back the 70's

  • Hard to imagine a time when Countdown didn't exist, LRB were unknown and John Paul Young didn't have his middle name yet! What a great piece of music history!

  • Great,thanks for uploading

  • That was great to watch. What a fantastic show Countdown was, and on this special Sherbet got the loudest cheer. Woohoo

  • Interesting. Thanks for posting
