i didnt know about bent until after watching a documentary about the subject of homosexuals in ww2 and their time in camps, i even suggested this would make a great film , not knowing of the movie bent, glad they have such a touching film
Oh god. I just finished watching it and I had tears pouring from my eyes for the last half hour of it. From the being gentle scene straight out to the end. It's just.. I can't even describe it, definitely one of the (if not -the-) most powerful movies I've ever seen. I don't think I'll be able to stop thinking about it for a while.
Thank you for making that video, it's perfect for it. :)
Honestly, I had the same reaction the first time I saw the film. Even now (having seen it many many times) my eyes still get watery towards the end. It definitely is a very powerful movie and should receive more recognition.
Yeah, it really should. Hugs to you for helping to spread the word by making this video. :D
The Holocaust is one of the most horrible things the human race has managed to come up with so far, it breaks my heart to even think about it. And the worst thing is that stuff like that is still going on in this world today and no one seems to be doing enough to make it stop. So much for 'never again'..
I agree with you. Not enough people in this world seem to care enough to prevent or stop the things we said we'd never let happen again...People who have very little or no connection to the Holocaust (i.e. having no relative or personal involvement) seemingly don't feel the need to care because it didn't involve them. And it's a shame that so many people tend to think like that these days... :(
Yeap, people either don't care or don't even know about those things still going on. Or they simply think they can't affect the way things are anyway, so they don't even try. It's just sad..
Everybody must see this movie! The most beautiful picture I've seen in years! To see these two people be able to survive as long as they did, and be able to create such a strong and loving connection without even touching is the most moving thing I've ever seen! It made me cry several times! And still does!
BEAUTIFUL! all the best scenes from movie, song perfect metaphor for movie in tone, theme & lyrics "don't think they'd understand" (lifesyle) "I just want you to know who I am"(Max finally wears pink triangle) "give up forever to touch you"(they can't touch each other)Theme-cutting off feelings-spoiler ending was necessary, glad you included it. BEST YOU TUBE EVER!!!
I need to watch this movie!!!! It looks SOOOOOO GOOOD! And the topic is one that isn't covered very much at all. I remember somebody in my history class when i was in grade 9 asked what happened to gay jewish people and the teacher told us that it didn't matter.
That's a terrible thing for a teacher to say! Bent is one of the first (and I think maybe even the ONLY) movies to touch upon the persecution of homosexuals during the Holocaust...Great movie, and well worth seeing if you can get your hands on. Most places carry it, so you shouldn't have too much trouble :)
It was just on tv the other day, actually :) It's played fairly often on LOGO (channel 281), and you can also purchase it at any media store (Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, etc.) or online.
