ok its safe to say jackson is gone, depending on how green's preseason is. grant and starks will be in a 2 back system, grant most likely getting the majority of the handoffs and starks thrown in primarily in running situations(he's more of a downhill runner and falls forward when being tackled) i really like green as a 3rd down back, and maybe in the future a full timer. 6' 225 lbs with a 4.45 40-time will help him greatly, if he stays healthy and progresses i think he can be good
Looks like the guy just fell over more than the stiff arm. Packer fan since the 70's this guy looks like a great pick, sure like to make a FB out of 'em. If he's anything close to Steven Jackson, it was a steal.
@snubrocks why would you make a FB out of him when he has a 4.45 40-time, and the fact that the packers use the spread more than under center which green was practically BRED to run from spread formations. he will be a good 3rd down back and possibly a full time back in the future.
@hancho17 I cant wait to see him against the fucking bears. REPEAT!!! REPEAT!!! Last time GB had a legit rb was a guy named Ahmahn Green. I think this guy could be an ass kicker and a name taker and great job Ted, stocking the O-[ine the last couple drafts. Hopefully the D stays on top,Capers stays put, and as the labor issue gets resolved. Oh, and lest I forget,......THE BEARS STILL SUCK!!!!!
@TheJacobsProductions I have to respectfully disagree with you about Grant. He is injury prone, yet not exactly the hardest runner. His whole routine is as follows----Get handoff, look for hole to line of scrimage, no hole? wait to get tackled. Oh, gee. Theres a hole? Ok, run to line of scrimage, stop, look around, wait to get tackled, laugh, collect check, go home. Sorry, never liked him. Jackson at least tries hard, hes just not very talented. Starks looks good but its too early to tell.
@davedorger I wouldn't cosider Grant that bad. If he can stay off the injury roster i'm sure they can use him.(Unless Green takes his job haha.) But yeah Starks will be interesting to see how he does this next season.
@TheJacobsProductions Then, what if MCcarthy gives them 6 carries a game? Its a possibility. Then it makes no difference who we have and he's done it before with great success. In 2007, he made no attempt to run and yet, if not for a few bonehead plays, we would have been in the SB vs the Pats.
@davedorger From when he took over as the lead back for the packers through his week 1 injury, Grant was second to only Adrian Peterson in production. He's pretty good, whether you like it or not.
@Ragnarok6688 When the O-line would open a huge hole, he would pop off a long run now and then. I think that padded his stats a bit. but a rbs greatest value to the team is blocking and getting key 3rd downs and Ive seen worse but ive seen better. Dont think the 42 million dollar man is worth the money. You have your opinion and I have mine. Cheers. Now if Green turns out to be a scrub im gonna look silly.
@davedorger I might keep jackson over grant actually b/c he's such a great 3rd down back/blocker/catcher. I favor Starks, and probably Green, over Grant. Grant is injured and aging and RB's are done by 30.
I love what the Packers are doing in this draft, but, they need to start picking defensive players, especially a linebacker, but that might be too late.
It might be best to just go after the best available player, now.

@davedorger I would consider Ryan Grant a pretty legit running back. So now they'll have two good RB's to break up the other team's D

@cloudbuster77 i feel the same way... though in grant's defense, his legs are years younger than most 30 yr old RBs

@davedorgerI I doubt a back to back 1200 yard season rusher plays like that
