I remember a WWII war veteran once said, War is forces you to kill someone that you don't even know and it is something that you have to do because either you are going to kill him or he is going to kill him. Indeed war is a horrible thing.
I find it funny how Americans turn war criminals into heroes, its just unbelieveable... I really hope China buys up your damn country, it would be better for all of us...
@sm0keshell Just for the record, these men (I use that word advisedly) were NOT war criminals and the film was NOT made by Americans. You may need to do some research......
BRAVE young Japanese men, flying into the teeth of the US Navy! Much better than the shetheads I saw in Iraq driving carbombs into crowded marketplaces & mosques of their own people.
@alpinorico That's because those sheetheads use misguided tactics and motives. :) No bravery involved. They only want to kill. These pilots, however, were fighting for the survival of their people and loved ones at home. Big, big differences in ideology and motives.
@dunguBABI The windshield creates an air pocket that keeps the pilot out of the direct blast of the 300+ mph wind. Breathing or even talking wouldn't be a problem although it would be noisy as hell surrounded by hurricane-force winds.
Interesting. Historically, we'll all agree that the Kamakazi pilots were a waste of life. I kind of feel its been romanticised alittle here. It was a preservation of Bushido that lead to that thinking.
The Filmagraphy is excelent. I did noticed quite a few T-6/SNJ convertions for the zeros though. They got the spontanious combustion the Zeros would perform right though. :P
@Zippercdrr They are Ki-43's not A6M "Zero" Late war Ki-43-II to be exact. Most late-war Japanese aircraft solved the "spontaneous combustion" including A6M5 versions and later variants
A6M5b Model 52 "Otsu" - Armor glass windscreen, fuel tank extinguishers
A6M5c Model 52 "Hei" - Thicker armored glass, armor plate behind pilot seat
A6M6c Model 53 - Self-sealing tanks, Nakajima Sakae 31a engine
