It IS a copy musically - don't be so quick to insult people who are imparting genuine inofrmation. Their is also a French version of the same tune which may well have come earlier than the Hollywood version though I'm not sure.
BTW, he was in his peak in 1990's, not 80;s. This song is recorded in 1989 and released in 1990. He is about start his rule as a King of Bollywood Playback singing from that time!!!
