A herd of Roosevelt Elk near Orick, California

I am amazed by these animals every time I see them. July 8th, 2010 I saw newborns. About 6 calves still being his by their mothers somewhat away from the herd. My camera messed up, but I did get a few stills. My biggest disappointment was seeing part of that same herd swimming. I didn't know that elk swam. That happened in 1999 or so - I didn't have any sort of camera back then. Thanks for posting!
