  • Lots of energy ! Love this version Ty

  • good version, however, my favorite is from a show in 1991 call, I believe, the summer solace, it was broadcast on sat wild feed.

  • Pedophilia with photographic evidence is serious jailtime, and he didnt do any,therefore.....i mean say what you will about Phish,im not really a fan by any means, but petterass is a tough label to have to live with especially if hes innocent.

  • Wow this sounds like Jerry. Great solo, but far from the greatest.

  • No not the greatest....

  • heretics.

  • For once steve doesn't make me wish he never started playing the guitar

  • Not bad - but sorry The Dead were better - see 05/08/77 or 05/11/77 for the true best Scarlet around.

  • @slayme3 You're right about that man. But those encompass something different altogether. I just love the solo here.

  • @slayme3 Of course they were.... and I'd love to hear Jerry rip a Mike's song... for those of us who were lucky enough to love both bands equally this is was beyond special!

  • What show was this if you don't mind me asking?

  • @samsurfer117 Phil & Phriends, Aprill 16, 1999 at the Warfield Theater

  • this lineup was incredible. Trey, Page, Molo, Phil, and the master himself: STEVE KIMOCK

  • Don't you mean "phans"? *chirping cricket*

All kidding aside, I don't like Phish.

  • Sorry, a pedharass. All he really did was take suggestive photos of a 12 year old...

What really bothers me is those guys are talented, not to mention highly educated musically, and yet they CHOOSE to be Phish...what a waste. If I were them, I'd be embarrassed to be constantly held up to the Dead's standard(they were mostly self-taught and less than flawless), what with them seemingly better prepared, yet forever coming up short... You can't BUY inspiration...

  • @MrBurns1717 Well I think their frustrations with that very fact is are what led to the decline in the early 2000's; they've been quoted as saying drugs were to keep the energy alive. Trey was always talking about composing and playing with other musicians, and they all tried it but nothing came out that was noteworthy. I think at this point they realize that its more about the fans than them personally, hence the sobriety and the full steam of the band now.

  • @MrBurns1717 But really, Gordo was letting people take rides on his Segway at Vibes and took a picture of a little girl standing on it. Mom is some drugged out white trash who freaks out, Daddy is local Hells Angels leader (running security at the show) who gives him a few good kicks in the rod and berries.

Not "suggestive" or aggressive photos so you can't really say pedophile.

  • @carwiz008 Were you there? I mean, in the secluded boathouse where they found the two of them. Whoa, easy on the mother, there buddy. Obviously she was a guest backstage, so she couldn't have been too out of hand...As for Daddy, Mike is lucky that was all that happened. I know if I were that Hell's Angel I'd have broken all his slimy fingers, maybe both hands. Be hard to J/O to the pics after that.

So you've seen said pics and deemed them fit to view? BTW, I was wrong, she was 9.

  • Trey sucks and Mike Gordon is pedophile

  • The girl screaming at 4:48 is better than this solo ...lol ....still great but Jerry worthy come on

  • If only you'd posted Bertha (both Trey's solos are damn fine) or Franklin's from this show, then you might be in the neighborhood.

  • I can't believe I found this...I wish I was there...unfugging real!!!

  • i miss jerry

    great solo though

i also miss my festival days (and what goes along with it)

  • It's a great solo, but it's not the best I've ever heard. Have to agree with @denali637. Good solo, but not the greatest.

  • @geisenaj

  • The guitarist who plays the solo here is Steve Kimock. Phil described the difference between their tones/attack this way: Trey=nasty, dirty, funk guitar. Steve=anti-gravity guitar. This show is 4/16/99 -- Phil Lesh on vocals and bass, Trey on vocals and guitar, Page on vocals and keys, Steve Kimock on guitar, John Molo on drums, and Donna Jean Godchaux sitting in on vocals.

  • @BillyDaMountain Well I'm just learning so much by posting this

  • I'm all for the enthusiasm, but it might be better to avoid titles like "Greatest Solo of All Time" in general, especially if it's...ya know...this...

  • @denali637 Perhaps greatest solo of al time is a bit of a stretch but it certainly as far as scarlet goes. LIsten to the phrasing and the buildup for it, you can't match it, and especially since it was improvised

  • @denali637 this is true what you say...but when your in the moment ya can't help to say what you are feeling at the time

  • this is actually trey playing with phil and friends, not phish. it's a treat all the same, thanks for posting!

  • @harpua76 That explains a lot, but you must admit Trey still tears it to pieces.
