hi i was wandering what kind of motherboard it has cause i cant find a name anywhere and i want to put it in a cool master sniper cause this case couldnt cool my videocard good enough but i dont get how the wiring goes with this dell motherboard if you could help that would be great
@benybe1234 8100 is not NVIDIA its ATI RADEON, and also it uses a corei5, whereas 8000 is core i7. not an expert, but after abit of research thats what i found.
Staples (in the states) has this (not exactly the same configuration) for $699 on sale occasionally (regular price $799). Mine has a quad core i5 and a tiny Radeon HD 4350.
I replaced the power supply 350W with a 700W and in the future will buy a better video card.
@davomrmac hello davomrmac I have just ordered a dell xps 8100 with the new ATI radeon 5770 HD graphics card that I bought for 80 € extra do you think it's worth it instead of the GTS 240, I was told it runs like a 9800gt
Abandoned it, I just was not getting into covering the XPS. Don't get me wrong my general impression... well built, ran quietly, very fast, fast hard drive installed from Dell, no crashes (Win 7 was good).
Im buying mine from pc world with a geforce 220gts 1gb graphics card. im not 100% happy with it because i need mine for mostly gaming. will most other cards fitt in the system?
I was also told the
Intel Core i7 860 processor
(2.66GHz, 8MB Cache) was a steo up from quad core. is that correct?
How is the fan noise on this machine as reviews on the dell site indicate that it is very quiet apart from initial start-up, also have you tested the gts 240 video card for gaming?
dude, i want to know exactly the samething as you. Do you know if gts 240's are generally good for gaming? cause i want to play games like crysis, empire total war and cod 5 at 40+fps
Note: the playback of high definition H.264 requires a fast CPU and at least 256MB of graphics memory
Sound card
Does this comp have these things cause i want a HD PVR and i preordered it with the same things you have on it just 640GB so does it have those things?
Pretty much anyone with a screwdriver, some money, and a free afternoon can build a computer. There are hundreds of detailed guides out there and it can easily be done in an hour or two.
I'm guessing you complain that the underside of your car is all greasy and ugly. The 1st time I saw a PowerMac G5 I was confused as to which side was the front or rear, only able to figure it out due to the power port among others.
I have a 8100 unit, but the insides are basically the same. Where can I put a new graphics card?

What's that black fan, visible after about 3.25? Is it the graphics card fan or the motherboard fan? Is it noisy?

Just got my xps 8000 on jan 4th 2010
Within 24 hours. I had a electrical blackout!
North London was down in power because of snow
My xps 8000 was switched on! And then all of a sudden power went
I was worried the electric power cut may have damaged the inside?
INVEST in a ups surge socket

It might have damage it but it is unlikely. Your worry over nothing.

I don't like its interior, looks really small. You can't put a Radeon HD5970 I believe

5970's exists? I thought it was the 5870 that was the highest currently.
