Actually, no, I was in Recon but not Force Recon. There are three types of Recon units in the Marine Corps and we go to Navy SERE in Coronado. The Marine Corps does not have its own SERE.

Yes, you go through a LOT of things, but none of the things they do there are actually torture. It does however show you a LITTLE of what to expect if you are captured. No blood is drawn (usually), safety rules are observed.

It depends. In the scenario described, the bomb is an imminent threat and you need information fast. If you were to torture the prisoner, it'd be likely he could at least withstand for several hours, even a day, whereupon it would be far too late.
