Ele critica o próprio país e a sociedade no Canadá até aqui tudo bem, mas ao mesmo tempo classifica-nos como um povo com baixas qualificações, sendo todos iguais, por outras palavras chamando-nos de burros, até passando a imagem de que Portugal não é o Irão ao contrário do que os Canadianos pensam. As pessoas que estão aqui a escrever mal dos autores deste vídeo encontram-se, realmente, enganadas. Eu lembro-me que quando isto foi tornado público, a repercussão que os nossos media fizeram foi claramente num espírito de "olhem, olhem, mais uns a gozar connosco". Está errado, pois a interpretação é, obviamente, a defender os portugueses e a dizer o quão nós somos habilidosos e úteis para o desenvolvimento da economia canadiana. Many, if not most portuguese who go work abroad have roughly the same mental ability of the portuguese replying here who don't understand the language or the sarcasm (I should know, I had a few of them sitting on my plane, flying home for Christmas), so it was very surprising to me when this hit the news in Portugal back in 2006. For my part, I'm glad to know that, somewhere in the world, the local bulk of portuguese immigrants is actually making a good impression.

First of all this video is hilarious. However, Harper's decision was the right one. My father immigrated to Canada legally and worked his ass off to do it. It would be unfair to others by simply allowing illegals to work in Canada. We would be creating a double standard. My comment Part I -> I've noticed that this is 5 years old, and so that will make an excuse for me not to remembering the Portuguese being deported as news here (I'm sure it was, I just don't remember...) Anyway... I think that this sketch is really funny! I don't see how Portuguese people can be offended by it, except, maybe, for the fact that people assume Portuguese emigrants work in construction sites, but honestly, i don't think that was an issue in this piece.

Many, if not most portuguese who go work abroad have roughly the same mental ability of the portuguese replying here who don't understand the language or the sarcasm (I should know, I had a few of them sitting on my plane, flying home for Christmas), so it was very surprising to me when this hit the news in Portugal back in 2006. For my part, I'm glad to know that, somewhere in the world, the local bulk of portuguese immigrants is actually making a good impression.

It's a bit more complicated than that. No one has objections to the legal immigration process, but unfortunately, it does not address the needs of Canadian industry. If all the illegals were deported today, the construction industry would collapse because there aren't enough legal workers.
Fact is that the immigration system needs an overhaul. The number of illegals here is a result of massive market forces - not workers try to get a free pass or "jump a queue" which doesnt exist anyway.

Eu conheço estes portugueses... e eles são todos iguais. não tenho nada contra os portugueses. a maioria está cá há 10-15 anos, chegam aqui, estão altamente qualificados, arranjam trabalhos na construção, trabalham 6 dias por semana, vão à igreja aos domingos, pagam os seus impostos, metem os miúdos na escola... francamente, eles são a raiz de muitos dos problemas que temos no canada... eles e a sua ética profissional e os seus jogos de futebolo nas quintas à noite.

First of all this video is hilarious. However, Harper's decision was the right one. My father immigrated to Canada legally and worked his ass off to do it. It would be unfair to others by simply allowing illegals to work in Canada. We would be creating a double standard. Look at the U.S. for example, they are having huge problems with illegal immigration, although I must admit the circumstances are alot more complicated.

I am a Portuguese/Canadian. Found this very funny. To the Portuguese people who some how even got the idea, that this guy is bad mouthing Portugal, are idiots. Sorry, but this guy is giving out a positive message. He's basically saying that what their doing is wrong. And to somehow bring up rasicim and terrorists. Its people like you who encourage it. If you are able to mention it out of the blue, you have a serious problem.

I'm portuguese and i think the video is hilarious. I didn't know portuguese were an "issue" in canada. Here in the netherlands is our "liberal" minister Rita V. who is sending asylumseekers away.
I guess stupidity and racism are everywhere..

This is a parody based on facts...I seen an episode of The Fifth Estate where the Imigrations offices have a quota to make as far as deporting imigrants...And it is much easier to track down the hard working men and their families who's Work Visa's have expired than to actually put the time in to find and deport illegal imigrants who come to our country and commit crimes.I'm sure it's not just Portuguese people who are subjected to the injustice of our Lazy and corrupt immigration system.
