  • Sick, I'm a shredder but your playing has inspired me to work on my chord voicings.

  • WHat the?! can you send me tabs of how to play the song??!!

  • great song! bill evans breaks my heart! (in a good way)

  • Nice arrangement.

  • very beautiful my friend. bravo

  • Lovely!

  • Beautiful!

  • i like buleria's more because i know him and his is more clear.but yours is also very nice.

  • Excellent!

  • this is my favorite piece in this entire world, and i really just wanted to tell you i love your beautiful phrasing and overall interpretation of this piece!

    well done

  • Big props for this one...! The harmonies are great.

Thanks a lot for your comment by the way. I really appreciate.

  • This is probably one of the hardest songs I can name right now. Kudos on those stretches.

  • very nice. nails or flesh on right hand?

  • mostly flesh; thanks for the nice comment.

  • "Cavatina" by Ana Vidovic sounds very similar to this. Was one song derived from the other? (I have her version on my faves if anyone is interested in the comparison and might provide feedback. I'm not a musician but enjoy listening. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can fill me in. Thanx.)

  • This is quite good. Tried to find the Earl Klugh version but it doesn't come up on YouTube. Your version is very similar to how I recall his sounding (from years ago).

  • great

  • i loves this song!!! it is amazing and your version is so beautiful 2!!!!

    well done! you´re inspiring me!

    greetz from germany!

  • Great arrangement, I am tired of that Sid Jacobs arrangement. Some stretches in there are just too big, you play a doable arrangement. For a fingerstyle arrangement you GOTTA hear Ralph Towner's... The right hand on that is just impossible!

  • this is Sid Jacob's arrangement, maybe I have disguised it with some unique inaccuracies. oh well, i'm glad you enjoyed my version. best th

  • Wow! You're right. You just make those stretches look so easy :) I can't do that much stretching, there's like a 5 or 6 fret stretch in there somewhere. Anyway, my only criticism is that you're missing part of the B section of the tune. My intuition tells me you skipped the bars 39-42? Somewhere in there I dunno... otherwise amazing!

  • Wow! and you're right too. i skipped a phrase and continued on like i had editorial approval. what happens between two Dm chords is important to include!! thanks for catching my mistake, i appreciate it.

  • lol, I'm a die hard fan of bill's... his music hits me harder with every note. Did you take anything useful away from this chord melody?? His voice leading is awesome but I don't know if it translates into something readily useable in one's improvisation

  • the short answer is absolutely. i continue to live with these SJ arrangements (the Monk too), and the education is ever deepening. i feel this will continue as long as i do because there's always a new way to hear it and to understand it and to have it unlock more of the guitar. it is slow going in many respects so the benefits don't jump out quickly in improv settings, but i always sense more of those riches are ahead if i just keep at it. best th

  • I am thinking about acquiring his book with Evans arrangements. Though some people(reviewers on Amazon) say that the tabs are a bit inaccurate and sometimes have to be rearranged because they appear unplayable. Are you playing directly from the tab or did you have to re-arrange anything?

Thumbs up for the dedication to learning the arrangement!

  • @AmundLauritzen There are some 6 fret stretches...

It is playable but you have to really do some finger yoga to get them right...

Is it just me, or is the comment box displaying weird in the new interface???

  • it's quite strange to be a guitarist and be interested in Bill Evans' music :) sounds good though

  • i personally think every musician who plays a polyphonic instrument can learn from bill evans... he really explored the art of voicings in and of themselves. gorgeous arrangement

  • yeah that's true - everyone can learn the way he was phrasing his solos or reharmonizing well known tunes, but the very important thing about Bill Evans is that he was left-handed so he was using left hand equaly with right, which is kind of technique that is reserved just for pianists I'm afraid :)

  • yes, sadly, unless you get a chapman stick

  • or if you play bass like Victor Wooten!

  • LOL you should hear me play jazz then. Bill's my sole inspiration :) and alright, bill's got incredible technique, but why is he ACTUALLY popular in the jazz world? I think it's because of how perfect his solos are musically, and how conscious he is of what the song he's playing is about.

  • very tasteful and creative version of a great tune. great job

  • Bravo ! great song !
