Love CJ! She is really, truly brilliant. I hate that they made her Chief of Staff later on -- it totally ruined her character and role in the personal dynamics of the show, but Wells sucks ass...what else do I say? Still, we had four years of Jackal-calibre excellence. :)

I just finished season 3 on DVD and I know that CJ ends up as chief off staff after Leo dies towards the final season. Maybe the answer to my question gives away interesting spoilers, but I wonder why CJ becomes chief of taff and not Josh. Since he is deputy chief of staff, that seems to be more logical.

It was when Leo had a heart attack and he appointed CJ to take his place... He was always hardest on her, but he loved her...CJ was the one with the least ego and the least prone to stress, she was the one that Bartlet loved and trusted most on a personal level...She was the one that understood like Leo, that being CoS means she lays down her life for The President, whose health was going to fail.... Toby was always arguing, Josh was unstable and a huge ego..

I can understand everything you say about CJ , the way both Leo and the president feel about her, as well as Josh' ego. Here I see that I was about to start season 3 three days ago, but I am halfway that already. The West Wing is of course a great show, but I apparently have too much free time on my hands right now as well....

Allison Janney was deffinantly my favorite on "The West Wing" One of my favorite episodes is where she finds out her secret service code name is "Flamingo" and she is all angry about it. It was absolutely hilarious!
