Impeachment is the first stage before conviction and it's part of the process of forcibly removing a public official by force. I agree with you 1000% about President Shrub, however because of (a) how our government works and (b) the intractible hawkish/bullheadedness of most of the repugnicans in Congress, the legislators cannot override Bushco's veto. Voting to just cut off funding would hurt the troops and be political suicide.

It's not just a matter of cutting off funding. It took years to get all those troops in there and it would take at least half a year to get them out. Even as they leave they'll need food, supplies and the means to defend themselves from combatants who won't stop trying to blow them up even as they pull out.

This is a good point to remember. Keep in mind all the months and months before the invasion it took us to move in all the heavy divisions and equipment, that's a big very slow infrastructure to remove.
