Some of these kids are mature enough to hold their own talking to adults, but others--we just don't have the time/energy/desire to play their games (no pun intended).
I've seen advice that says to ignore the bad comments and let your friends deal with them. However, I think the key is to see if the criticism is genuine or just hateful. I tend to leave the former on the channel and only delete or block the latter, though I will admit one comment just got me so angry I deleted it without a second thought--a rash thing, admittedly.
Just to add a bit to this -- I recently finished reading "The Gift of Fear" which talks a lot about stalkers and people who just won't leave you alone. I won't go into the details (read the book; it's great) but I think in the context of a Youtube "drama" your advice is key. I would only add that you should delete the comments and block the users quietly, with no public fuss or private threats, etc. Don't ever let them know they affect you. Eventually they will get bored and leave you alone.

It does seem like the "hate" comes with gaining more popularity. If anything, the hateful comment every once and a while should be a good sign that you're gaining popularity lol. Being above the negative comments and letting them know you don't care what they have to say is the best defense.
