What are you talking about, the Ferrari enzo was beating by the 2012 GTR around the Nurburgring. Now granted the car is 8 years old but it was also Ferrari's most advanced car, in-fact the enzo was suppose to show the world how far Ferrari has come. The Ferrari 458 italia is still getting a beating from GTR at any major track and according to Ferrari the 458 italia is the most advanced Ferrari, yet it is beating around a track by a car that costs more than half it's price.
I never said the Veyron was built for a track. The point i was trying to get across is that the GTR was built as a sports yet it outperforms almost everything under 500 thousand dollars. The veyron is a technical marvel but it doesn't completely trounce the competition now does it? To achieve the cornering that the GTR achieves is something even Ferrari are baffled by. The GTR weighs a lot yet it corners significantly faster than Porsches stripped out racer.
The GTR weighs around 260Ib lighter than the Veyron but it has around 700hp(counting the SS) less than the Veyron yet it spanks the Veyron around any race track in the world. The GTR is a sports car that beats 95% of supercars that are currently on the market, it weighs much more than other sports cars, it has less HP than many other sports cars yet it performs past the limit of what sports cars should perform. What kind of tech do you think makes this feat possible.
It is true that the GTR is not competing with the Veyron but the technology that went into the GTR is in some ways more advanced than the technology that went into the Veyron. if you doubt it, do some research. If Nissan wants to make a car that wipes the floor with the Veyron they have the technology right now to do so, but of course they will take a hit from the rather expensive development phase. Remember Nissan owns Infiniti and right now Infiniti is leader in car tech.
In top speed, the gt r doesnt match the veyron but there are only two places on earth where you can max a veyron to its top speed. so whats the use of a very high top speed when you cant use it? Moreover on a track, the gt r is very impressive despite being much less powerful. On top gear track, the gt r 2012 had beaten the standard veyron(1.18.3) gt r 2012(1.17.8). And the veyron ss is 3rd. You might want to check Top Gear testing the SS on their track with the Stig...Fastest lap recorded on their show, above everything, including the Gumpert and Ascari...near race cars. First of all, as speed increases, different parts become the limiting factor. Secondly, the Veyron's mated V8 and quad turbo is literally more than 2x the GTR's, with a 2500K vs 90K sticker. Thirdly, there is a reason why the Veyron has never had an official lap time on the Ring. The GTR is a much better performance car, because racing is not about just going in a straight line. If it was, you would never beat a navy jet anyway. So yes, they are not in the same class.

The Switzer kit for Porsche 997 turbo is around 750HP from what I've seen, very similar to the Switzer kit for GTR in terms of power output. Race panned out about right for those HPs - GTR off the line first, Porsche slowly catching up as its a bit lighter. In the real world I can't think of too many roads where the Porsche would ever get to catch up! GTR will always own it at the traffic lights.
@ramindavani - How can the Nissan driver be 'sleep' if it's an auto? haha. The video makes mention of it having the wrong boost setting. Both are modd'd from the same tuning house. Also remember...you don't need the same power to be able to compete. Consider things like weight (power-to-weight), drivetrain, driver skill, tires (traction) etc

@MrStevennizzle The stability is due to the aerodynamics. The GTR's aerodynamics are not made to be clocking speeds in excess of 400km/h. The Veyron is made for top speed, and top speed only. The GTR is designed as a track racer. There is a video of the Top Secret GTR that clocked 405km/h on the roads in New Zealand. It is part of the High Octane video. The GTR will never be faster than the Veyron, but it does have the potential to reach 400. The problem is reliability and maintenance.
@MrStevennizzle Yes, the Bugatti is miles apart, but fully moded GTRs (R34) have been clocking speeds in excess of 400km/h and this from a 2.8L/3.0L with a Single turbo (the size of a jet engine). The Bugatti has a 8.0L engine with four turbos! and originally could do 408km/h. To extract 1000hp or more from a 3.0L is a feat in itself. So please do not underestimate the GTR just because it's not European.

MrStevennizzle is right after 200mph fluid dynamics takes over. the air acts as a liquid and it is exponentially harder to push through. on a Top Gear episode they mention that the the first 300 HP is to get to 150 Mph and the extra 700+ is needed for that next 100Mph. The only car that is able to compete with a Veyron is a SSC Aero but it was beaten by the Super Sport Model.

@Germancarz The Porsche will always cost more as they are built to a higher standard. The transmission is not great was my point. A sports car is meant to be shifted as it makes driving a much larger joy. All those magazines you quoted have said the same thing about the GT-R, all the electronics that make is so fast take away from the driving fun and most have been quoted as calling it boring or lack of feel of what is is doing. A Porsche GT3 RS is NA, so no turbo's and runs Laguna Seca faster
The advantage for the Nissan comes from the fact it has that piece of crap auto manual which now unfortuanly Porsche offers, but at least it is an option in the Porsche. I will take a slower time off the line if I can have the fun of shifting myself.

First of all, as speed increases, different parts become the limiting factor. Secondly, the Veyron's mated V8 and quad turbo is literally more than 2x the GTR's, with a 2500K vs 90K sticker. Thirdly, there is a reason why the Veyron has never had an official lap time on the Ring. The GTR is a much better performance car, because racing is not about just going in a straight line. If it was, you would never beat a navy jet anyway. So yes, they are not in the same class.

The Switzer kit for Porsche 997 turbo is around 750HP from what I've seen, very similar to the Switzer kit for GTR in terms of power output. Race panned out about right for those HPs - GTR off the line first, Porsche slowly catching up as its a bit lighter. In the real world I can't think of too many roads where the Porsche would ever get to catch up! GTR will always own it at the traffic lights.

Also remember...you don't need the same power to be able to compete. Consider things like weight (power-to-weight), drivetrain, driver skill, tires (traction) etc

TRUST ME, I have owned a 9sec evo and am good mates with the person who owns one of the 8sec evo in NZ. It can never be a daily driver and might as well buy a lorry loaded with methanol. On top of that, you have to account of things failing and breaking on every run. Hence, the Veyron will be the King of Speed.

@MrStevennizzle The stability is due to the aerodynamics. The GTR's aerodynamics are not made to be clocking speeds in excess of 400km/h. The Veyron is made for top speed, and top speed only. The GTR is designed as a track racer. There is a video of the Top Secret GTR that clocked 405km/h on the roads in New Zealand. It is part of the High Octane video. The GTR will never be faster than the Veyron, but it does have the potential to reach 400. The problem is reliability and maintenance.

@MrStevennizzle Yes, the Bugatti is miles apart, but fully moded GTRs (R34) have been clocking speeds in excess of 400km/h and this from a 2.8L/3.0L with a Single turbo (the size of a jet engine). The Bugatti has a 8.0L engine with four turbos! and originally could do 408km/h. To extract 1000hp or more from a 3.0L is a feat in itself. So please do not underestimate the GTR just because it's not European.

MrStevennizzle is right after 200mph fluid dynamics takes over. the air acts as a liquid and it is exponentially harder to push through. on a Top Gear episode they mention that the the first 300 HP is to get to 150 Mph and the extra 700+ is needed for that next 100Mph. The only car that is able to compete with a Veyron is a SSC Aero but it was beaten by the Super Sport Model.

Not top speed, great it does 260 mph ... if ford put all of their money into a hyper car they could do 270 mph.. FOR THE PRICE the GTR is awesome. The SS is "modded" beyond belief , the gtr was designed to carry 4 passengers and go insanely fast, the veyron is designed to get the world record top speed "production" car.

@Germancarz The Porsche will always cost more as they are built to a higher standard. The transmission is not great was my point. A sports car is meant to be shifted as it makes driving a much larger joy. All those magazines you quoted have said the same thing about the GT-R, all the electronics that make is so fast take away from the driving fun and most have been quoted as calling it boring or lack of feel of what is is doing. A Porsche GT3 RS is NA, so no turbo's and runs Laguna Seca faster
