@ilovemyjob2012 It seems there are a lot of people that remember and love Doris. And, isn't it wonderful all the new attention and accolades she's been receiving at 87 ? I think its great ! Happy you enjoyed !!
@AutumnSplendors Some of my favorite stars here. I'm an old movie fan ... I'd rather watch an old movie than a new one. And usually do !! So happy you enjoyed ... thank you !
@TerryArtanis I have to agree with you ... she is definitely underrated ! She did not like to perform live and after the later 40's really didn't. She mainly recorded and made movies. But, she literally had two full time jobs going at once. I recently heard that she was enjoying listening to some of her music because she hadn't heard many of the recordings before ... and I thought .. when did she have the time ?!! Happy you enjoyed .. thank you !
@bertramsf She's one of the best ballad singers ever ... just amazing. I'm so happy you enjoyed and this brought back a nice memory for you. Thanks !!
this is a song tht couples today should be dedicating to each other. its so pure and sweet. me and my bf danced in my room to this song and we r only 15 :)
I l;ove this woman. she makes my heart pounder. The yesterday music is so romantic. It's all gone now but still in my heart forever. Now we have Justin Bieber
No talent, can't act, got a puny voices and whats worse my little girl thinks thats music.. She said "Daddy hes the best" yukk. Thank you for the clip..
@ReLoadMeBoy Yep ... I'm right there with you. Love Doris and can't stand most of what passes as music today. Kids just don't kmow what they're missing !!
@ReLoadMeBoy You stated it so well: Yesterday's music...is all gone now but lives in our hearts forever. I am forever grateful that I grew up in the golden age of American popular music (from the 1940s thru 1980s). I've been accused of living in the past but, given the noise that passes for "music" today, I'll happily continue to do so.

@BocaFriend Thank you so much for your kind words. As you can tell I'm a huge classic movie fan. You should do a video too ... if you do let me know so I can watch it !! So your friends mom is a Doris fan ? there are a lot of us out here !!
Oh, we're all Doris fans! We grew up watching her movies and I stayed up to watch her show ... which was not memorable beyond the opening montage in which she looked gorgeous in the 60s styles. : ) Whenever we see candy with multi-colored wrappers, like chocolate Christmas balls or Easter eggs, we say "Let's all have one of each color" ala VIP in Lover Come Back! #LOL My current spotlight vid done for my mom a couple weeks ago shows my own regard for elegant nostalgia. Yours is fabulous!
@BocaFriend Oh .. I love that .. lets have one of each color !! lol
You know .. her tv show - I agree with you for the most part. I actually liked it with the kids and grandpa. When you look back at them - they are very nice. When she moved to the city and got "hip" .. it was too much! But .. look at the times .. you had to be hip ! Strange times ! I'll check out your video .. thanks !!
@Dayniac4324 perhaps :) it nearly made me cry this infact, Doris does a wonderful cover of it but its sad to think that in 30 years maybe? nobody will remember this greats because of the modern crap out today :( its wonderful anyway, if you do a part 2 let me know! X
@IHEARTTHEWIZARDOFOZ I know ... there are so many more that should be included .. maybe I should do a part 2 ! These are only a few of the wonderful stars that I consider the best ever ! Thank you ... happy you enjoyed .. even without Gene !

@IHEARTTHEWIZARDOFOZ Well .. you've got me thinking I should do part 2 .. i'll have to work on that. Gosh ... I really hope that music like this won't be forgotten. I have hope because there are a lot of really young people here on yt that love this music ... lets hope they help it continue for a long time to come.

I noticed Susan Hayward is in this. I just bought some of her movies off of lovingtheclassics. If you are interested google it (lovingtheclassics) and you will find her actua movies and more.
Wow I love this. Perfect for a winding down evening from a stressful day at work. Doris Day suits this song...Light Jazz. I love the pictures of the Hollywood set. Very nice.
This is an exceptional montage! The photos are wonderful and your effects add a clever "vintage photo frame" contrast. This rendition of a tender romantic standard is lovely. Doris Day glows. Thank you for your delightful photo-montage and for generously sharing your music and talent.
@macatcas Thank you for your lovely comment ! Some of my favorite stars and a song from Doris .... couldn't ask for more ! I'm just happy you enjoyed the video and Doris' beautiful version of this great song. Thanks again !
Been trying to learn this tune on the piano. Great tune. I didn't know that DD was such a terrific interpreter of these so-called art songs. Thinking of Chet Baker's recording. This is better. . Anyhow, years ago someone told me that the great american writer Edmund Wilson's favorire singer was Doris Day. I mean now I understand, she could really sing and swing and on such a slow tune to boot. Not for the faint-hearted! . Thanks!! alkuhn1
@alkuhn1 She really preferred slow tempos. One of the best ballad singers ever !Another writer infatuated with Ms. Day is John Updike. He's said many things about her - here's one - "I'm always looking for insight into the real Doris Day because I'm stuck with this infatuation and need to explain it to myself." Many people have been infatuated with Doris !
@JoanWasQuizzical1 Well ... yes...at a later time that was certainly true. However, this was recorded in 1956. She was under contract to Columbia and this was from one of her top notch albums with Paul Weston as the conductor.
Later, Marty certainly cheaped out on MANY things which led to a decline in her movies and music. Have to agree with that !!
@Dayniac4324 Weston is a little too "whitebread" for me. Too bad she didn't ever get Mancini or Sinatra's Swingin' Years dude. Somewhere I have a Weston Hollywood Quartet album, it was okay.
@JoanWasQuizzical1 I know what you're saying. Don't know why she didn't get with other folks. Her son said he believes that her movies took over and her music suffered..got left behind. So sad - she definitely had the talent to rival Clooney and other contemporaries. But - she also never sang in public after around 1953. Just records and movies.
@FrozenNephilim This is certainly a calming - romantic - lovely interpretation by Doris. Thanks for commenting ... 'cause I got to listen to it again too !!
@literauntie Thank you ... she does a lovely version of this one. And these are some of my favorite stars.... stars we should all remember. So happy you enjoyed ... thanks again !
@Dayniac4324 your star list is great, but i miss info being on the right side so you could see it at the same time as the video ah well, youtube progress, i guess lol you might find some favorites of yours on my channel, come visit, if you like!
@literauntie I have many more on my list ... but not time enough in the video !!
I know what you mean .... not too fond of this new format. It seems much more difficult to navigate through......irritating in fact ! I will definitely check out your channel !! Thanks !
Wonderful montage, takes you back to times and places that are no more. And maybe never were, as these were actors playing a role, and we know them as the characters they played. The actors off- camera were just ordinary people who had the ability to radiate "glamour".
But for some of the stars - their personalities were there on the screen and really what made them stars. Something came through that camera to the screen... not everyone had "it"...whatever you want to call say it is.
Hi Dayniac! I just have to thank you from the deepest part of my heart. I'm currently in Finland, left all my Doris Day cds back home and I listen to all your DD music. It's like a daily fix else I just won't function. I too wish I'd been around during this era. Thank you SOOOO much for your posts! Keep the good work up. (",) - Joie
Thank you so much for your sweet comment. I'm really happy you're enjoying these wonderful songs from Doris.... I know I have to have my daily fix too !!! lol
I don't know what you would classify this as ... in the 50's when this was recorded it was probably called a ballad. Today I guess you could put it in the same class as say .. Michael Buble ... not sure what that is called today.
@Cavelson Thank you so much ! This is one of my own favorites... I'm such a classic movie fan - love them. I really appreciate your kind comment ... and I'm happy you enjoyed it !!
When I was 10, 11 years old, I used to hear these old songs. For hours and absolutely enchanted! Of course, I loved Prince, KIng Crimson and stuff like that too, and so, my brothers wouldn't think I was crazy. Lucky me if I was able to appreciate beauty without any prejudice.
I still am. Most of people simply don't know what they're losing.
@thehappyhedonist Yes .. lucky you can enjoy both sides of the music coin. I'm quite a bit older - but I was the same way. Going to Rolling Stones concerts and at the same time having my record store order me Judy Garland and Ella records !! When my husband first looked at my record collection and he thoiught I was nuts ... now he understands !! lol you are so right .. they don't know what they're missing !!
There may be other albums, of course, but the CD that has this song is titled "Doris Day's Sentimental Journey, Latin for Lovers," 2001. A visit to Amazon and you can view the other 22 songs on the album.
@joycemarie1212 I have it on the Bear Family set. Its a great song by Doris. ... you know what ... she dazzles me too ! But I guess you could tell that !
@MoonStarDutchess I wish they would too ! I've met quite a few young people here on yt that love old movies - that makes me feel good -- hopefully the classic movies will go on forever. I agree with you -- there aren't many these days that stand up to the stars from the golden age of movies. Thank you for your great comment .. happy you enjoyed !
Fantastic job! This is without question the best video montage of classic Hollywood I've ever seen on You Tube (and I'm the editor/designer of the official Maureen O'Hara website). You used the perfect singer and wonderful pictures. Great job!
@Jubiejones Thank you - that makes me feel really good !! I love classic movies - and these are a few of my favorites. I'm really happy you enjoyed it. Thank you again !
I would rather watch an old movie than anything television or the movies have to offer us today. I've loved classics since I was a small child. Don't know why.. they just make me feel good ! Thank you... I'm really happy this brought you some good memories.
me encanta la canción y el montaje. veo el video una y otra vez desde que lo descubrí y no me canso. es muy evocador. muchas gracias por el trabajo realizado y por compartirlo con todos!!!
One of the finest videos I've yet to watch. It's a keeper. I'll visit it again and again. It's the perfect compliment of Doris Day's wonderful voice and the pictures of so many memorable entertainers. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I'll check out your video .. thanks !!

Oopsie, Toni -- caveat viewerum! I changed spotlights
today and what I should have said was to look at my
uploads for "Fantoche - for Carol's Birthday" in order
to see something with a flair for nostalgia. It has a
NY supper club ambiance and elegance. Cheers~T

This is an exceptional montage! The photos are wonderful and your effects add a clever "vintage photo frame" contrast. This rendition of a tender romantic standard is lovely. Doris Day glows. Thank you for your delightful photo-montage and for generously sharing your music and talent.

Not for the faint-hearted! . Thanks!! alkuhn1
alkuhn1 1 year ago
@alkuhn1 She really preferred slow tempos. One of the best ballad singers ever !Another writer infatuated with Ms. Day is John Updike. He's said many things about her - here's one - "I'm always looking for insight into the real Doris Day because I'm stuck with this infatuation and need to explain it to myself." Many people have been infatuated with Doris !
Dayniac4324 1 year ago
@Dayniac4324 Her husband refused her top notch arrangements, too cheap.
This loses some of its resonance on YouTube, she did kill here, tho. Doris and Mercer.
JoanWasQuizzical1 1 year ago
@JoanWasQuizzical1 Well ... yes...at a later time that was certainly true. However, this was recorded in 1956. She was under contract to Columbia and this was from one of her top notch albums with Paul Weston as the conductor.
Later, Marty certainly cheaped out on MANY things which led to a decline in her movies and music. Have to agree with that !!
Dayniac4324 1 year ago
@Dayniac4324 Weston is a little too "whitebread" for me. Too bad she didn't ever get Mancini or Sinatra's Swingin' Years dude. Somewhere I have a Weston Hollywood Quartet album, it was okay.
JoanWasQuizzical1 1 year ago
@JoanWasQuizzical1 I know what you're saying. Don't know why she didn't get with other folks. Her son said he believes that her movies took over and her music suffered..got left behind. So sad - she definitely had the talent to rival Clooney and other contemporaries. But - she also never sang in public after around 1953. Just records and movies.
Dayniac4324 1 year ago
@Dayniac4324 One wonders what her music career would have been like if she'd sung in clubs - concerts - broadway. Interesting.

@Gingwell Close. Mercer penned the lyrics but not the tune. He wrote "The Dream's On Me" for Garland.

Wonderful montage, takes you back to times and places that are no more. And maybe never were, as these were actors playing a role, and we know them as the characters they played. The actors off- camera were just ordinary people who had the ability to radiate "glamour".
Doris Day never sounded better.
5micky2 1 year ago
But for some of the stars - their personalities were there on the screen and really what made them stars. Something came through that camera to the screen... not everyone had "it"...whatever you want to call say it is.

what type of music would this be classified as? or what type could you relate it to in recent music? reply to this comment plz.
Am3riKanPsyCho 1 year ago
I don't know what you would classify this as ... in the 50's when this was recorded it was probably called a ballad. Today I guess you could put it in the same class as say .. Michael Buble ... not sure what that is called today.
Dayniac4324 1 year ago
These kind of music is called "traditional pop".

One of the most beautiful songs of all times.
Doris or Ella?
Both, of course.
"When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of them all
Then I shall tell them
I remember you"
And Johnny Mercer deserves the
Paradise where I'm sure he is now.
thehappyhedonist 2 years ago
@thehappyhedonist Yes - another great song from Mercer... he's amazing.
I'm with you there... Doris or Ella .. both great !
Dayniac4324 2 years ago
When I was 10, 11 years old, I used to hear these old songs. For hours and absolutely enchanted! Of course, I loved Prince, KIng Crimson and stuff like that too, and so, my brothers wouldn't think I was crazy. Lucky me if I was able to appreciate beauty without any prejudice.
I still am. Most of people simply don't know what they're losing.
thehappyhedonist 2 years ago
@thehappyhedonist Yes .. lucky you can enjoy both sides of the music coin. I'm quite a bit older - but I was the same way. Going to Rolling Stones concerts and at the same time having my record store order me Judy Garland and Ella records !! When my husband first looked at my record collection and he thoiught I was nuts ... now he understands !! lol you are so right .. they don't know what they're missing !!
Dayniac4324 2 years ago
There may be other albums, of course, but the CD that has this song is titled "Doris Day's Sentimental Journey, Latin for Lovers," 2001. A visit to Amazon and you can view the other 22 songs on the album.
