No, I figured out why it would sound weird. One, it's anticlimatic, and Two, it sounds so much more like he's just contradicting him.

Anticlimactic means it would destroy the mood of the scene, but have you ever seen a main character give a long convoluted sentence when he confronts a villain, or one quick punch of a line? The whole "a one way street, called trust" has a needless and out of place fragment ("called trust") dangling off the end of what could have been a better line and trips up the flow of his speech. People have enough intelligence and memory to know that the main character isn't just randomly contradicting.
