@TomoyoTatar I found a baby racoon abandoned by its mother ,and it made the exact same noises as these ferets-nobody wanted to help me get it to a shelter O_o >=( I later found out why nobody wanted to hold that cute furball trying to get to a animal clinic...Abandoned Wild baby racoons,skunks,possoms,and Especially Squirrels,are always INFESTED with fleas and ticks-it dont help knowing poor animals could have rabies either

i got my ferrets at 6 weeks. they used to sleep and cuddle with me in my bed and sometimes sleep in my shirt by my fast but now there all older now and 5 years old. they still act like little babies.

First, when terrified they let out a stink, this is an oily substance in the anal glands, and the smell goes away quickly, descenting stops this, but I have 8 and they are fine with those glands.
Then is the oil in the coat which smells a little like honey, it cannot be removed, bathing makes it worse.
Poop can collect germs if left around, but responsible owners won't leave poops in cages for longer than a few hours.

@Greagreta There will likely be some older kits around, and quite possibly some late young babies, if you live in the UK there will almost certainly be a ferret club or rescue close by which will be FULL of this years babies (my club has rescued a HUGE number of babies that all need homes)

@DantessHellraiser It depends on the quality of the breeder, if the breeder spent time with the ferret and trained it, you should have a good ferret. But if the breeder neglected to handle it, your chances of having a mean ferret rises. They really do make good pets, but they require so much playtime and attention, it's like owning a puppy. If you go to school, the ferret will get very, very bored.

@victorialcw, my vet told me to stop the biting by flicking their nose. Not hard!!!!! It'll get their attention and it worked for mine! Just be sure you use discretion with how hard you flick! And be consistent!

I'd like to get a ferret and research says they like to live in groups. But if I did invest in this I could only afford 1 so if I play with him alot do you think he will be ok? My guinea pigs were out more than they were in their little homes and they never seemed lonely not that they're the same, just sayin.
@rikkuschocobos They can live on their own, as long as you can amuse them. You will be their group, but if you don't spend enough time with them then it's not very fun for them.

@rikkuschocobos I think it would be ok as long as it's carefully set, duct tape is pretty sticky, so they probity won't rip them down, but if the sticky part shows, they could bite it or run into (making it stick to and rip out their fur) though both seems unlikely if you're supervising the ferret.
That ferret noise that you hear could be one of two things.... every time you hear that noise it does not mean its crying. I had 5 ferrets at one time and everytime they played they would make that noise, the vet told us that that is a noise they make when they laugh or are happy and when they are sad. But that noise is not JUST crying because of sadness.
@MsJadedmind The sound a ferret makes is usally dooking but when the make the crying sound somtimes they adapt to the attention or moments of crying and playing and will switch sounds to get attention. but yes at a young age they will cry for attention even if they are quite happy because its cute and humans WILL adore it and love it, ferrets are smart :3

I myself used to have five at one time and they were taken care of the way you should take care of them. But before I got my five, I had one, her name was Shasta, I got her when she was 2 months old, and she was a happy little critter, she would run, do her little weasel dance and make that same exact noise, and she was happy. You can tell when an animal is not happy.
@lingh0e You can tell by their demeanor. She was sweet as she could be and extremely playful. She could be somewhere in the house sleeping and hear her name being called and she would come running and bouncing, and what we were told, making that noise that the ferret in the video is making, it is the equivalent to laughing. Why come on here calling people idiots? All of my ferrets lived long healthy lives, I think I know a little of what I am talking about. Your comment does not matter.

Our baby, Bruno makes this noise when we get in the door from being gone during the day at work. He just does it way louder and more frequently until we take him out of his cage. Ive had ferrets before but never heard this noise, im guessing it means hes happy to see us and its "go time" lol

But before I got my five, I had one, her name was Shasta, I got her when she was 2 months old, and she was a happy little critter, she would run, do her little weasel dance and make that same exact noise, and she was happy. You can tell when an animal is not happy.

@lingh0e You can tell by their demeanor. She was sweet as she could be and extremely playful. She could be somewhere in the house sleeping and hear her name being called and she would come running and bouncing, and what we were told, making that noise that the ferret in the video is making, it is the equivalent to laughing. Why come on here calling people idiots? All of my ferrets lived long healthy lives, I think I know a little of what I am talking about. Your comment does not matter.

Our baby, Bruno makes this noise when we get in the door from being gone during the day at work. He just does it way louder and more frequently until we take him out of his cage. Ive had ferrets before but never heard this noise, im guessing it means hes happy to see us and its "go time" lol

@slavik90 I just looked it up, They're illegal in Hawaii; Washington, DC; Dallas, Ft. Worth, Beaumont, and many more. They're put on the ''Wild Animals List''...Pretty stupid since Ferrets have been domesticated longer than Cats...
