lol im trying to come up with a made up rpg its like prime time but it's for video game characters. you can play any protagonist from any video game like Kratos from god of war, larra Croft from tombraider and the loveable crash bandicoot. each character has thier starter abiilities then slowly gain their better ones. for something funny i thought of a town where all video game characters live. or there could be universes like sega, sony, nintrndo atari etc. how does that sound

A group of us played this last week at Conception UK, and it was absolutely fantastic - one of the best games I've ever played. We came up with the programme 'Super Happy Space Princess Academy Yay!'. You had to be there, but OMG... pure and hilarious awesomeness. I've already ordered the book, and can't wait to try it out at another Con.

Could be something to take a look at. It's unorthodox, but, in unorthodox games you can find such games to be very enthralling and well thought out.

Kurt, you inspired me to pick of All Flesh Must Be Eaten, which me and my troupe thoroughly enjoyed, I think I may attempt to get my hands on this game too. Thanks!

HEY! I enjoy your broadcast very much. I think you have real skill for reviews.

However I think this one needs a lot more work. The points you keep bringing up are warnings for idiot hack and slash powergamers, and believe me, they are not your only public.

You completely avoided the potential of the game to play absolutely any and all genres. People are calling it the 21st C. GURPS.

The mechanics are excellent... this is not a freeform game by any means.

Another nice thing about this game is that it incorporates your gaming group's input on what sort of game they want to play into the system itself. You're more or less inventing your own game on the spot. It also is a system that supports and rewards elements like character-specific subplots, sessions which focus on one particular character more than others while still allowing all of the players to remain involved, etc. This game is ideal for fans of collaborative storytelling.

Dungeon and dragon bash aside, I dont find the catch on this game. Fantasy is partly about escaping reality and I can see Indiana Jones, or Uther the Paladin, Flash Gordon, and batman providing it, but an actor in a tv series.....

You don't play an actor on TV, you simply use TV conventions to frame your game, creating adventures that could be on television.

PTA is a "storygame." Such games are not so much about "escapism" or "immersion" (like traditional rpgs) but more so about collaboratively telling stories with your fellow players.

I would try virtual tabletops like OpenRPG, Fantasy Grounds, Screenmonkey and the like. Essentially it is like playing tabletop online with anybody that has an online connection.
