  • BRILLIANT :)

  • I'm not digging this. It sounds like they are desperately trying to keep their heads above the water with out Ali and Mickey and to stay relevant. I love UB40.. But I just can't wrap my head around this track..

  • i like this song

  • this tune is the nuts ubs are bad i dont care what people think and in anycase they have been going 30 years plus davey boy

  • don't care for this. Each has had their spot in the light, this ain it. This not bringin traditional reggae back..

  • @TheRastarazor Omg... can't you people understand that's this is hiphop with a little bit or reggae in it??? ub40 is still doing tradidional reggae though ali is gone... and there music's still awesome...

  • hiphop a lil bit of reggae in it, ths one is for those who love the old school... trying to hate on us u new school FOOL...lol nice 1

  • i love this band forever

  • good use of the riddim....good take...

  • Did I forget to mention that I think Robin Campbell is still hotter than ever??

  • I love this song!! The collaboration.

  • rockabiilie...yeah thats why the last verse is "Ask you grandfather and grandmother about...how they twisted when they first heard it, 40 years later its back on the playlist".....theyre hardly trying to make it their own...just respecting the tune and bring it round for another spin

    thanks in advance. :)

  • ease up man, this is how music is great - start with ub 40 and then get into the reall rythms of the dreads..

  • i think they have cracked it !!!! maxi is as good as ever and this single is a great mix of the original, i have been a fan of ub40 since the start and this is a gooden !!

  • You go Maxi - you're soooo bloody versatile!!:-))

  • Its alright. Still having probs digeting new UB40 without Ali though. Love u guys so much... grew up with you and now kinda feel my family's estranged.

  • This song is Great I know its a cover of Desmond Dekker Isarelites but Maxi Priest and UB40 have done a great cover and i saw it live this year at the Excel Motor Show and it had the whole audience off their seats say no more

  • forgot to put my score up

  • It is amazing though! Out of the thousands of songs in my iTunes library. This song is the second most played; beaten only by Busted's 'Who's David'. :| :D

  • WHAT THE FUCK THE BEAT AND MELODY ARE BY DESMOND DEKKER! ITS HIS SONG THE ISREALITES!

i gotta admit tho its a sick ass sample and they twisted it hella hard. much props

  • @rockabillirebel88 fukin shite lar

  • Haven't you people ever heard of the Israelites, this is just a re-digested version, with the original riddim produced by desmond d. You cant deny the tune, but please stop diluting reggae like you've done with punk rock and hip hop

  • Been reading through all the comments... Am i the only one that noticed that that wasnt the original keyboard player?... What happened?... Did i miss something?... Or am i just blind?

  • No, you're not blind. Mickey left also the band (in March).

  • He left just after Ali left the band.

  • SOOOO COOOL!!:D

  • but even so its a great version of this song!!! i dont know the original but bet this version is better than it...

  • Desmond Dekker is credited as a songwriter on the CD. Just listen to the words where Maxi says to ask your grandmother and granfather about this...and 40 years later, now it's back on the playlist, only recycled.

  • at least i'm not the only 1 who thinks this sounds alot like desmond dekkers the isrealites LOL !!! as much as i love maxi too, UB40 wont b the same w/out ali. COME BACK ALI I SAY.

  • It uses the Israelites tune!! They have never denied that it's based on that, it's all about bringing classic reggae to a new audience if you bother to listen to the lyrics!

  • Don't think this is a rip.. if you listen carefully, at the end of the song there's an obvious "OhhOooh" which is taken from the Desmond Dekkers song. It's so obvious, I think it's a legit remake. In my opinion that is...

  • RIPED RIPED RIPED

  • this is an remake of Desmonds Dekkers Israelites.....also see Desmonds last recording ever....Israelites ft Apache Indian....LEGEND!! Love the maxi vibe in the group....

  • Sounds more like a rip i saw them live and they took credit for it. RIP!

  • great havent changed there still the best band

  • I have no doubt that would sound a hundred times better live. UB40 is a band that sounds better live.

  • k i love ub40 and maxi priest but this one just isnt doing it for me...

  • absolute quality...lovin it

  • i absolutely love this idea, however, even though maxi is re-newed, love to still hear the inward gasps he's known for, don't let you're fans go in exchange maxi! we still love you no matter what! jj

  • kanikani till da mornin light♥mwahhh "AOTEAROA"

  • Super Song, Should be a big hit now the Sun is out, Excellent Newmarket show!

  • Absolutely love it. Thanks for adding..Linky

  • Way FUNKY 'n' GROOVY ... love it MON!!!

  • Funky video,

However it will be hard to replace Ali his voice makes UB40. The Jury is not out on his brother Duncan he will have to prove him self.Ali will have his loyal fans.I can see them re grouping in a few years time they will make squilions like The Police.

They have a lot to Iron out. I just hope they can remain Freinds.I am glad i saw them in Perth for the last time together waht a treat.

    Peace

    Pickaboo2

  • Nothing is slowing UB40 down.. Age is never an issue.. love and peace..

  • reallyy good (:

  • duncan should also plaY the guitar so that he will be more like ali....

  • I dunno, I like Dunc how he is : )

  • Yea Duncan is really good and what's more you can understand every word he sings lol!

  • jojo, do you think ali will reunite with UB40??

  • Hiya

Well at the moment it looks highly unlikely that he will be back with them, but then one never knows!! Ali is doing his own thing and UB40 seem to be going from strength with Duncan doing such a great job.

  • it's possible right?? Pink Floyd reunited on live 8, i think it is also possible for UB40 to reunite again.. did you know that brian called Ali an "egomaniac"? A statement w/c Ali didn't like and he said that he won't share a stage with brian again.

  • Well I do think what Ali did was underhand lol, they put off releasing the new Album 24/7so that Ali could release his Running Free, and then got into a strop because they had an American tour to do, anyway a lot of issues there I think. Yea I thought Pink Floyd were awesome at Live 8 and you ar so right about UB40 they are like fine wine.

    Cheers

    Mags

    xx

  • they are like fine wine, they mellow as it ages.. it's not just any ordinary wine, it's a red red wine.. lol.. does astro still have his dreadlocks??

  • ha ha ha!!! yea he still does have his dreadlocks, but not as good as Maxi's though.

Red red wine nice, although I prefer white to drink

  • ha ha ha... UB40 has never performed here in the philippines, i wish they could come over here and perform.. brian sometimes is annoying.. peace..

  • Lol I will put in a special request for them to play in the philippines for ya!

    Cheers

    Mags

    xx

  • they should come here.. air supply is going to perform here in our city tonight. and it's an open air concert.. i wish it would rain... as d ub40 song goes,, "i think it's going to rain today." do you have a friendster account?

  • What's a friendster account lol? I do have an msn address. btw I have just asked if UB40 will consider coming to the Phillippines for you. If you have an msn account I could send you the whole of Paradiso gig in Holland part one and two, UB40 put a free download on the UB40 forum

  • i do not have an msn account. but i do have a yahoo messenger account. so what did ub40 replied to you?

  • BT has not come on to reply yet, but they never commit themselves, so just live in hope lol.

to save putting your yahoo address on here why don't you join the UB forum then you can download it yourself, it's a brilliant gig with Duncan singing so sweetly, well sorth downloading.

    Cheers

    Mags

    xx

  • just post their concert in paradiso here in you tube so that those who hasn't downloaded it can watch it her. lol

  • Lol I am crap at doing that sort of thing, put it's the full gig in two parts so I don't think it would all go in would it?.

    COME ONNNNNN !

  • This tune is SO WORTHY of going to the top! Puts a smile of yer face as yer getting jiggy! The band is sounding fantastic and looking more happy and handsome than ever! Loving it when Maxi pops off his shades! And check out Tony jammin' out! Thanks so much, Pikey, for putting this up-- i think of it as my early birthday prezzie (12th june)!

    xxx sunnybeth xxx

  • This is a top f%$cking tune.

Good on UB40, they are unstoppable atm

  • Roots! great sound, nice one lads, dats da way to bounce back.

  • Love IT! Maxi & Ub40 what a great mix!

  • zitoune - like the man sings "good music always come back around"

the song is a celebration of Desmond Dekker, listen to the lyrics!

"ask your grandmother and grandfather about this/how they were twisting and shaking when they first heard this/40 years later and now it's back on the playlist/we recycled it and now they're back in business"

i think that's a pretty damn good reason why it deserves to be at number one.

  • ah this is a wicked choon - lovely groove and gets the body moving as the song suggests!! UB40 & Maxi Priest are sounding brilliant, its as if they've played together for years!!

Astro's toasting is superb and he's also sounding better than ever in the 'Here We Go Again' track from 24/7!!

TOP MARKS & BIG LOVE FROM DJ

  • Absolutely brilliant! Who cares if they used a sample from Desmond Dekker... I LOVE THE SONG!!! LOVE THE VIDEO TOO!!! TV and Radio stations don't know what they're missing... the fools!!!

  • Top one Pikey!!!!!!! Cheers for posting it up!!! Lovin the tune even more!!

    =)

  • This is just a remix from the song "Israelites" by Desmond Dekker (1969), which was better. Check it by yourself. So in conclusion I wouldn't say it deserves to be number 1, it's nice but not original.

  • Well, to me if you say that it's "brilliant", "fabulous", "should be number 1" etc, it has to be justified.

The original idea was indeed brilliant, I just feel that the credit goes to Desmond Dekker (btw it's not just a sample it's the overall idea of the song which is repeated here).

Well concerning the american R&B songs, at least there's a modification of the intrumental (not very original but more than here).
