The thumbers-down didn't want to face this fact, I suppose. I think the main thing is making trials more fair, such that people who didn't kill anyone or were innocent wouldn't be sentenced to death for nothing. That's 30 to 40% of them, according to the video.

I myself don't really have an opinion on the death penalty but im just wondering reading through these comments if those that are against it would still feel the same way if they mother, father or sibling was murdered and the killer was caught. I am pretty sure that 90% of those saying they are against it would be for the death penalty in that moment.

No. I would be for life sentences. Why? Because I'd rather the killer of my mother get a life sentence and another innocent person get a life sentence, then both of them (the killer of my mother and the other innocent inmate) be executed. For if there is the death penalty, there are innocent people executed, and THAT is murder too. It's best to not cause more murder of innocent people just in the name of vengeance.

Why the death penalty is wrong:

1) Our legal system (any legal system) usually convicts the right person

2) Being killed always results in death

3) Death is a permanent condition

So: The death penalty is wrong because the punishment of being killed always results in a permanent condition of death, while the process which leads to being killed does not always lead to the desired result.

It is not a matter of the punishment fitting the crime. It's a matter of the punishment fitting the system.

Hardly. The death penalty since it's reinstatement in the 80s has cost over $200billion in tax payers money. According to the NAADP website capital punishment is actually more expensive than life in prison.

People who commit crime are usually driven to do so because of the system in place that does not help those of lower intelligence to make anything of themselves so many resort to a life of crime, and those that kill and rape, are probably mentally ill and need treatment, not a needless death. Maybe they will need to live in prison all their life, but it should not be hard, it should be helping, and kind and compassionate, with love all hate melts away to reveal the renewed life and love in them.
