While the song writing improved on later albums, the vocals did not. I just wish it worked out for Dianno because this video is proof of his live power. Imagine his hard as nails vocals over some of the later maiden tunes...it would have been amazing. Bruce is good, but I'd rather a guy screaming his head off in a leather jacket over a guy running around on stage in a leotard, fencing.
Di`Anno lovers can go and jump into the sea.Drugs`n`shits like these aren`t made for respectful people. So fuck you all , fuck di`anno Hail Dickinson , McBrain and Gers
Maiden died when Di'Anno left. I saw them 40 times with Di'anno. Classy, raw energy that would blow your mind. Dickinson and McBrain turned Maiden into a mainstream unoriginal crock of shite.

iron maiden with dianno sold the band 2 EMI... hello... grow a brain silly boy.. cast outs dont come back... maiden are stuck with the fencing pilot..
The vocals were right for the times. Iron Maiden was young here, and it the songs had a raw, almost punk-like sound to them. But when Bruce came along, that's when the band started to write songs specifically for an album, instead of things that they had been playing for years, hence the sound being more towards Bruce's singing capabilities. Both singers are absolutley brilliant, but Paul Di'Anno era Iron Maiden is the greatest music ever.
Maiden at their best. They kicked some serious ass with Paul. First 2 albums with Bruce were great, but they lost their aggresiveness after that. They were def more brutal and heavier with Paul.
Thanks Noizyneighbour for posting this awesome vid... So many memories come to mind while one witnesses one of the greatest bands ever assembled in music history. One can clearly see the hunger and drive that the five young I.M. lads had during this period of their career. I was fortunate to see their Killers performance in the1980's and it was a show I will remember always; thus, their performance was pure 100% murder. Up the irons my fellow metalheads and never stop headbanging!!!
Bruce is a god and the best vocalist maiden ever had or ever will but no matter how hard he can try, he will never be able top Paul when it comes to songs off of the first two albums
Paul was too wild for Steve Harris. Shame, they made spine-tingling music together. Modern Maiden are truly incredible, but early Maiden was truly ground-breaking. They just don't make music like this anymore. It's young man's music, but my God I'd like to see Paul and Steve reunite to see if it's possible.
i think he was meant to, just like allot of musoz, they usually never play the same thing twice (live or else it would get boring. could be wrong thou
steve(god)harris looks like he has plastic man's fingers. god i loved them. got both the first 2 albums in 1981 around 12 yrs. old. went to see them with dickinson the next few years. just wasn't the same. they had a harder edge with paul i think. UP THE IRONS.
Although it's a shame that most metal softened up for the worst around 1987. Complete toss like Bon Jovi and Europe were riding high in the charts and unfortunately bands like Maiden followed that trend I thought. That Seventh Son LP wasn't very heavy at all, I'm not 'avin a go at any band or owt, I'm just stating a fact.
Nah it's funny when a band changes their frontman. It's almost like they changed their style. Only band I can think this has ever worked for was AC/DC since Brian and Scotts vocals sound very similar.
We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, Nickmann!
In my view Iron Maiden as I loved them ceased to exist the day Paul Di'anno left the band. Whilst I appreciate (and also own) most of the stuff they have recorded with Bruce,I like the Di'anno line-up much more.I hate hearing Bruce singing Di'anno numbers as well because I compare them. It's like listening to Motorhead without Lemmy on vocal. But thanks for your views and I respect them.
@Noizyneighbour... I agree with you 100%. I have nothing against Bruce, but the first 2 I.M. albums were not only very good; they were revolutionary because at the time we metalheads had grown tired of the big, corporate hardrock bands of that period prior to the arrival of the I.M. lads, Motorhead, Saxon, etc... Also, Paul collaborated with Steve on some of the tunes for those first 2 records; thus, the sound of that first I.M. line-up could never be duplicated because of its originality.
@Noizyneighbour an that shows ur limited capacity of understanding Iron Maiden , you are nothing but a low-quality punk fuckhead who can`t understand elaborated art of Bruce Dickinson among Maiden , cuz the TeenAge times are way behind.
I love Iron Maiden when Paul was in the band. That is my favorite era of IM. I also love Iron Maiden with Bruce, but it wasn't the same anymore. But I love both eras, but I prefer when Paul was in the band.
Bruce, Paul, WHAT THE FUCK! Nobody's better than them But they are good on there on ways
Paul's punk voice fits to the old
Bruce's High Vocals fits to the Iron Maiden after Paul
Thats how the Fuck it is! But just for fun, think on how the New Iron Maiden Would be... wtih Paul
Just think on it, "Powerslave", "Wasted Years", "Caught somewere in time", "Fear of the dark", "Alexander the great" i could say more and more With Paul
@MikeH5N1 You complete arsehole. Maiden is just a job to Dickinson. Di'anno made Maiden. Dickinson and McBrain turned them into puppets!!! If you were still in nappies when Di'anno was king you missed one hell of an era. Live gigs have never been the same...ever
@Noizyneighbour totally agree with you. I saw Di'anno 40 times with Maiden and then came the Dick and robot McBrain. How to ruin a band....Burr was class. I hope he is doing OK and Paul........get out soon..idiot..I'll buy you a beer when you're out!!!
If you observe closely you can see that those songs were almost made for di'anno's voice
dickinson is very good in the number of the beast but can't sing the earlier songs that well
even di'anno agree's that dickinson is the best maiden vocalist ever

@Blackdragon52k That is a great idea. Then Paul can sing all the old songs properly. And maybe sing a song from NotB and show Bruce up.

@MikeH5N1 I couldn't care a fuck whether you agree with me or not to be honest.
I dont have to like the later albums just because you say so.
I like the punky edge to the band that was there on the first two because I like punk anyway.
I just don't like hearing Dickinson murdering Di'anno songs.
And neither you or anyone else will convince me otherwise.
