you have to reset the arms that take the disc in your ps3 things theres allready a disc inside

I think the problem is in the "ärms" that lift the dvd tray up. If I'm not mistaking there is a small lever in the left arm of the mechanism that raises the dvd-tray. I will try to make some time later today to see if i can help you out. I think that in the top part of the drive there has to be a part that moves when a dvd is inserted, with a small pin pushing in the lever in the left arm that makes the tray go up.

I'm not sure about this but maybe its worth a try.

I tried dissasembling my PS3 and wen I put it bak together, wen I turn it on, it won't show the menu screen or anything. Just the background and no words at all. Can anyone help me?

@NarutoFreak85 Try disconnecting all the wires and plugging them in again. Also, take out the hard drive and insert it again.

@just4ivaylo92 I did and now it says the hard drive is corrupted. Should I use the recovery menu and restart my whole PS3? (#5 on recovery menu)

I believe I changed out the ribbon cable from the drive itself to the motherboard. Unfortunately, taking these drives apart is a pain in the ass.

Is the blue ray laser lens the small one or the big one ?

Same here, opened her up, took the blu ray drive completely apart. put it half back together and tested with disc, the disc spins at a rate of probably 5SPH. So it has to be my spindle that holds the disc. While taking it apart it looks like this "spindle" is rivited down so there was no way to remove it, but if it was possible being that its magnetic the magnets underneath would be sent flying everywhich direction. but luckily i found a site that sells the peice for $30 :)

i found out this had same issues , its the cable ribbon , i was playing around for 3 hours and 3 diffrent drives and it was just cable , it has have good connection

make sure that the laser can properly move up and down and also how did this happen? for example did u drop it?
