Are these also sometimes referred to as turning discs? I'm trying for a dance team and it's required to be able to preform those, but I don't no what they are.

Yes, when in a regular stradle/second position leap, both legs go up in the air at the same time but in a turning leap, both legs up at one time is EXTREMELY hard to do.
well i dont think so... mayb kinda...when i do russians we do shawsays (idk how 2 spell it??)into a russian, or how sum ppl call it, middle jump, centers...
you dont have to do shawsays(?)with a russian, its just mostly common in dancing. if you see the nutcracker, the prince does 4 russians in a row...awesome

the turns this girl is doing are "chainne", u can also do "chasse" turns into it. (i think u mean chasse, not shawsays):P
