  • I have to do this for my solo, but i don't do it as good as this girl does lol

  • i can do a straddle jump but i can only do this in a stag pose. :/

  • Are these also sometimes referred to as turning discs? I'm trying for a dance team and it's required to be able to preform those, but I don't no what they are.

  • @MonkeyLover987100 Different studios call them different things, smart one.

  • it's called a second jump smart one

  • @MsBilltomkaulitz Dance techniques are called different things all over

  • @rhiannoncandance o.o ok thanks

  • i can do this with a jete... not a straddle :O

  • do some of these dancers dance for UM dance team?

  • It's also called a spinning disc or turning disc :) my dance team uses these a lot

  • I can get the right but just rolling out of it left always gets me confused lol

  • this is also called a Russian.. right?

  • @xRawrItsJocelynx The middle split jump on it's own is a Russian, I've heard these being called turning Russians though

  • when does the JFK app get released for purchase?

  • I can always get my one leg up, but never the second one. I need alot of work on these lmfao,

  • her legs looks strong

  • At my studio this jump is called a turning toe touch :)

  • cant this be called a turning disk?

  • I LOVE THESE!!!! At my studio we call them turning discs and I finally got them down!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • uh yeah. I have to practice....a lot....

  • is this a disk jump?? What is a disk??

  • @riscorlyn yeah this is a disk jump

  • so i tried this right and my right leg got up and then my left leg pretty much didnt then i fell

  • she does this soo gracefully! i would be like smashing my bones on the ground!

  • is this what you would call a turning russian leap?

  • i believe this is called a rotating disk. they are so hard to do.

  • I don't roll on the floor after I do it. I struggle with that -________-

  • I can't do these unless I roll to the ground afterward.

    :/

  • Ohhh she does these soooo well!! I uploaded a video of myself working on this jump in class too..I didn't know what to call it, so I called it a Chaine Russian..I guess it's the same thing though!! :)

  • all your dancers are so graceful. Fabulous job

  • I call them circular disks

  • we call them flying saucers

  • how can u do it with no turn? thanks

  • @MissMakeMeUpp well then w/ out the turn it would pretty much be a toe touch which is not the same as a turning second position leap/

  • oh i just wanted the name :P cause i cant find the tut for the leap or stretches anywhere! and i sooo wanna add it to my solo ! :D .x

  • is there a better name for thiss?

    lol

    :)

  • it looks easy but the thing is it makes a lot of effort to jump higher while trying turn and kick your legs going to a side jete...

  • very nice. we call these turning russians. i love how theres a million and 1 names for different things.lol

  • @ilovedancin yeah turning russians

  • my studio calls those spinning disc leaps

  • I'm working these in lyrical jazz right now!

  • we tried to learn these last week.. i'm not so great:/

  • heyy

  • All these girls in these vids are so talented! They're amazing! I wish i could do them! I am working up to that. Right now I am trying to single butterfly.

  • @JOBROFREAK1990

jeah doing them is good ;D

  • @JOBROFREAK1990 I wish i could do THEM too ;)

  • what style of dance do you dance ?

i mean the girl doing the dancing.

  • these are all mainly ballet and modern moves so im gessing she dus both of them :)

  • jazz. lyrical, contemporary. mainly that.

  • this isnt a disc jump stupid this is either a double stagge or a tripple stagge

  • Everyone does it differently . There should be no right or wrong way .

  • When turning? I don't think so.

Yes, when in a regular stradle/second position leap, both legs go up in the air at the same time but in a turning leap, both legs up at one time is EXTREMELY hard to do.

  • you have just good control! haha when i do these i kinda just flail. :) good job!

  • I can do this. I just can't extend my legs very far.

  • wow you are a very good dancer!!!!!!!! oh yeah hehe i can see your mucsles when you are just standing WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • easy... so easy !

  • pause at 46 sec shes in a strddle!

  • ARe dance Team Calles Those Spining Disc there fun

  • Anybody please post a video how to do leap?

  • holy crapp!

  • these are hard!

  • @BlondeDancer875 If you can do a straddle you can do these. :)

  • Sit into it more. It looks like you're just turning with your legs up. Just a friendly tip. :)

  • @BlondeDancer875 You'll get it. it's just a straddle jump while turning. :)

  • the turns this girl is doing are "chainne", u can also do "chasse" turns into it. (i think u mean chasse, not shawsays):P

thanx for posting btw, iv been trying to get this jump for ages!

  • i wanna get that jump down so badly!!!!! but i think my center splits and all need to be worked on so i don't like.. rip my groin hahahaha.

  • cool

  • isnt that a russian leap?

  • well i dont think so... mayb kinda...when i do russians we do shawsays (idk how 2 spell it??)into a russian, or how sum ppl call it, middle jump, centers...

  • you dont have to do shawsays(?)with a russian, its just mostly common in dancing. if you see the nutcracker, the prince does 4 russians in a row...awesome

  • thats what i thought too, yay im not the only one! XD

  • omg...this is nyce!

  • very helpful.

  • That's fierce.

  • i have to do this jump in a duet comp piece... i really have to work on my straddle split for this to look good!

  • is that the same thing as a flying saucer?

  • i can do that

  • i can do that! its soooo easy!

  • are these almost like barrel turns?

  • yup
