does that really do a good job?? And I've seen videos where the guy takes of the foam using high pressure. Would that not cause scratches?? I would think you would gently rinse the foam (and dirt) away.

SEARCH "hood cleaning foam" to see applications where this foamer is actually useful. The car was mostly used just to show the performance of the foamer. This foamer is also good for cleaning drains if your in the plumbing field. It has it's uses. Just not for cars. Maybe for fleet washing of big riggs.

@mrbarleymob Of course the amount of foam this guy is using is a complete waste, but using a foam gun is necessary if you don't want to swirl your paint when you wash it. What it does is loosen dirt which has adhered to the paint (usually from driving in the rain), which you then remove with a wash mitt. If you skip this step, you grind the dirt into the finish and ruin all the work you've presumably done getting the paint perfect. If you don't want perfect paint, don't do this.

The foamer can be used with whatever chemicals you want, but you will need a foaming agent. the foam is good for dwell time. Like applying chemicals to a vertical surface it wont just run off. He is using a car purely for demonstration purpose only. This foamer runs off of an air compressor. very good for hood cleaning, etc.

@autofrappe as far as foaming agents some are stable with acids others with caustics. In your case you can just use dawn dish soap with a foaming lance since you only want to mix car soap. Car soap might even work by itself. you might need to get the mixture agitated first. or use dawn foaming dish soap. works great too. or you can buy sodium laureth sulfate. That is the foaming agent in shampoos, soaps, tooth pastes, etc.
