It's actually probably a tribute to Tool if anything (the song Sober by Tool was done with a claymation video about an individual's struggle with desire and addiction on various levels). As a Tool fan, I can totally appreciate TBE's in this aspect because they did such a great job with the video and the song. If it isn't a tribute to Tool, well then my opinion stands, this song is great and the video is amazing. Claymation takes a lot of time and allows for such expression.
Just because they used claymation to make a video doesn't mean they are coping Tool, Tool doesn't own that type of animation, they are just famous for using it.
the video part 'reminded' me of something from tool, but the music? it stands alone.
i can't think of a single 'sounds like' band... or song even. i don't care where you're from or what your culture is, quality always shines through and WINS.
Anyone suggest some other good Australian rock bands? I'm really into it at the moment. Already well aware of Karnivool (fav) and Cog but I'm sure there are plenty more...
What you idiots should really be focusing on is the awesome bands coming that have been inspired by Tool, like Chevelle and The Butterfly Effect. Great bands are influenced by great bands.
we evolve into a better thing, i say tool had the days, but now TBE! ROCK THE FUCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that being said @TheMemorySense ur a fukkin moron, quite clearly we know TOOL didnt invent music, they became a perfect circle, moved on like you should u ignorant fuck..................wake up to urself, FREEDOM OF SPEECH BALLSACK!!! now have ur say and fuck off and let this band build fans like ur putrid ass never will
I could actually imagine people comparing this to Tool simply because the video uses claymation lmfao...I get so sick of people comparing these bands to Tool too, I just don't get it. Not only do they not sound alike, it's not like Tool was the first band to ever do anything original. Honestly I think Tool is extremely overrated. They have some great songs, don't get me wrong, but come on. They didn't invent music. But like a Tool fan once told me, you can't overrate the best...pointless debate.
People say the same thing on TBE videos as they do on Karnivool videos.. "Sounds like tool, so unoriginal!"... Tool isn't a genre unto and of itself, it's called prog rock, just be happy Tool isn't the only band in that genre we have to listen to and enjoy.
I can still remember being blown away by these guys when they played the waterloo hotel in support of their first ep. That's what got me into writing music.
Love the band, the song, the clip. This would have to be my favourite, saw them live and they didn't play this, but they were still one of the best live acts i've ever seen.
something hidden about this video....couldnt help but watch it and question my life and what ive done in my life.......great video...great song...and the middle 8 guitar and drums go off........this continues to be my fave track of theirs.......why this wasnt a massive hit i will never know....australian radio has alot to answer for
the fil clip is showing within something dark there is something beautiful and when there is something beautiful in a dark place you would do anything for it to be yours
@MegaRocket73 im hear u but im glad this song didn't go to radio coz if it did it would have played over and over again then i may have got bored and sick of it so glad it didn't
This is the first song I heard from TBE years ago and its probably my favourite :D I love Tool aswell though so all you downy fucks bitching just learn to enjoy music for what it is. Music is the greatest invention of all time and I don't give a fuck if you disagree without music life would suck...
This video and one other of the butterfly effects earlier released songs before FCOK were directed by pshychadelic visual designer and artist, alex grey who is famous for this kind of work. Alex worked alongside Adam Jones (tool) from when Adam was studying sculpture and visual design to create alot of the tool videos. TBE dont have alot in common with TOOL and i dont really think that Alex greys video's (though awesome) fit in well with TBE's persona as a band. btw i love tbe.
Tool is Rock art ,well layered, but this is almost mainstream, but the very best of mainstream, much like chili peppers are a very talented mainstream group

I think the comparison is more to do with the visual style than the lyrical content, because Tool as you say write about DMT and spirituality. But the drawer scene at 1:54 is very similar to something in Prison Sex, while the plasticine (I presume that's what the figure is made of) model is similar to that of Sober down to the jittery movements and glances. I can see the comparison and I consider myself something of a Tool aficionado.
