Tammi had a voice that is a vary rare thing to hear anymore. This song really made her shine as a singer. her and Marvin had such a talent together and a wonderful chemistry that we may never see again. RIP to both Marvin and Tammi. You both are sadly missed.
This is to Adawitch, You are so right! Tammi was a natural and was real! She looked and acted real. Not a snobbish star that has "the help" cal her "The Boss" I DO NOT care for Diana's version at all. 3 months after Tammi's death (3/16/70) here comes Ms. Ross with this song in June 70. She was back in the spotlight again. I've heard Motown people say that she was jealous of Tammi. This will always be a Tammi & Marvin song no matter how much Diana added to it to make it hers.
@rhiannon51070 ehm why are you hating on Diana's version of the song? She did her thing and she did it right. Both versions are classics and we will never experience music like that again.
And ehm.. jealous? Diana had nothing to be jealous of. Don't get me wrong, I love Tammi & Diana both, but there's no need 2 compare them.
Don't get me wrong I give Diana Ross her rightful kudos but Tammi had a natural smooth, yet strong and effortless voice ...no glitz and special effects were needed.
