I'll never forger the first time I heard Pelican. They were touring with Opeth. They came out and set up their equipment and I noticed there were no mics. They finished setting up and he just yelled into the crowd "Hi Utah, were Pelican" then they played this song. I just fucking fell in love, I didn't want them to stop playing. I went up to get an autograph after the show and they invited me into the tour bus to smoke a joint with them and Opeth. Best night ever
The build up from 4:00 and the transition at 4:12 until end of the song is an orgasm for the ears. Quite epic, who could possibly hear that and be like "pfft lame".... 2 people apparently : /
After listening Pelican's whole discography I can only say that they are one of the greatest bands in the MUSIC HISTORY. Seriously, every song makes your mind travel... I can actually FEEL this music! Thank you for being so good and original Pelican.
Man, oh, man I LOVE Pelican...the over all feeling is sadness, happiness, redemption and joy all mingled together...like staring at a picture of a loved one. :) Such beauty.
I would have to say 95 % of the music I listen to is instrumental . I bought this cd and wasn't very impressed at all . Most of the songs get real stagnant like it kinda sounds like they didn't know where to go with the songs in my opinion it just got too long and drawn out . Aurora Borealis came on and I was so into that song . Probably one of the most beautiful instrumental songs that I have ever heard .
@thierryman I'm dead serious when I say I lierally fell fast asleep thanks to this song. The experience was like literally drifting into the dream state.
I just picked up this album after hearing some of Pelican's other stuff, and this song is pretty amazing.
I'm in Iceland right now and have seen the Aurora Borealis for real a few times. Next time I make a time-lapse (I made one already - check my profile if you're interested) I know I'll be backing it with this song. :)

Haha, is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm guessing by the last sentence it was a good thing.

This is sort of like the Godspeed You! Black Emperor of metal what with the elliptical movements and such.
