Blah, blah, blah, what a bunch of BS. I usually eat fish EVERY DAY, I love it. The risks of elevated mercury from eating fish are hypothetical. The pros of fish, especially fatty fish with high omega 3, clearly outweigh the HYPOTHETICAL risks. Omega three is so good for the brain, joints, vasculature, heart and a lot of other stuff. Americans are now afraid to eat it because of the Vegan creeps. Too many Americans have become Sheeple. Remember all of the crap advice of the past from EXPERTS!
@tickyul There is no lie that Methylmercury poisoning is extremely dangerous and can become more advanced later on in life, due to the fact it can accumulate in the body. Here in the EU we have strict laws put in place to dictate how much Methylmercury is tolerated in fish, naturally it is worst in America due to coal processing.
Kidney/liver failure and blindness is common in people with acute Methylmercury poisoning via fish, and its also EXTREMELY dangerous to unborn babies.
@viperxeon Show me ACUTE MM poisoning in the USA...............very, very, very rare. And there are a LOT of fish that you can eat with nondetectable or near-nondectectable levels of MM. Many fish are high in Selinium..........a natural chelator of MM. In life you have to be logical............weigh the pros and cons...............fish is a big plus in my book.
@tickyul I suggest reading Dr Groth's presentation on MM poisoning and MM dosages in common fish. I'm just pointing out that it is not hypothetical, it'd be rather silly to say that, specially with the mounting water pollution that we are seeing recently, it doesn't go away after all, it builds up in water supplies. It's more of a case for the future, rather than now. Some fish stocks will be inedible in a few decades because of it.
Ps Selenium is a trace element, so it is not in abundance.
@tickyul Also, I'm not dismissing the importance of fish in a diet, it's just the fact that someone who eats it more than 3 times a week (especially tuna) is susceptible to MM poisoning.
It is a case of preservation and environmental management to protect these fish stocks from continuous MM exposure.
After all, we not only receive it from fish, we receive it from water, plants, diary products and meat, it's very important for us to manage how we control MM being released into the environment.
my daughter has veg protein allergies & can eat only fish esp tuna. didn't realize earlier how coal usage contribute to mercury poisoning. thanks for the great insight.
I'll probably die of colon cancer, so fuckit.

Kinki University in Japan solved this problem.
They have succeeded in complete culture of bluefin tunas. We never need to get tunas from sea with their way.
