@mrjohn1964 Much thanks should go to the late Ricky Nelson, they stole the riff for the song from his '62 track Summertime, ha ha. I actually think this re-recorded TOTP version rocks a bit more than the studio single cut that was released.

@DCHurlford1 But Ritchie Blackmore himself never denied that built the basis of Black Night on Summertime.

@mrjohn1964 Oh right, thanks for the info, i'll need to check 'em out. It was just Roger Glover i saw talking about it in the old 1995 BBC rockumentary Rock Family Trees. I suppose it doesn't really matter anyway as Ricky Nelson didn't do the original version of Summertime (think it went back even further than '62!)
