I think Borderlands is a bit influenced by the book The Gunslinger by Stephen King... I mean, the Gunslingers name is Roland, he's (obviously) a gunslinger, and he has a hawk that he owns which he throws at someone during a duel of sorts. Could be coincidence, I guess, but really, Mordecai has the eagle and can also be the gunslinger class, that seems like a pretty big coincidence.

The 1st game borrowed from MANY influences (and often pays homage) including; Heavy Metal (the movie and the mag), The Road Warrior (a.k.a. Mad Max), The Dark Tower (yes, Roland both are Gunslingers with a fighting bird), And on and on.

There are actually hundreds of references in the game to assorted literature, games, movies and other works of art.

It is among the best games ever made.

Thumb up for gearbox to change this. The Shield glitch makes the game extremely boring and easy. It is the reason I stopped playing the game. It got to boring and killed the whole experience. Borderlands 2 better fix this or the game will suck. Anyone agree feel free to comment, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It made dueling useless. It's probably a scam pal, Gearbox clearly stated that there will be no beta as it is not a easy game to beta in the first place, plus it looks dodgy as hell.

The page is a place where you enter your birthday and so forth. Most beta websites are actually on the developers main page. I don't see any "Join the beta now" on Gearbox's website anywhere.
