Folks don't think about this, but this was their first kiss in real life also so you could imagine the nervousness, anxiety, excitement and bond between the two. I think thats what kept that heart-felt atmosphere the show gives us.

This show ripped my heart out every episode. After the first season the two main writers quit over a contract dispute. I don't think the replacement writers ever quite got it right. But, that first season made me feel like I had seen the ghost of a long lost friend every episode.
