  • Classic set by Dummy.

  • Cant take nothin away from Dummy on this one. DJ Craze and Dj Dummy were Great at the diss lines! This routine would still hold up today

  • I got this on tape and listened to it a million times back in the day and thought MEH....but now i watch it and went DAMN HE KILLED IT!!!!!!!

  • This was real djing, showmanship and mcing at the same time. Totally agreed about no computers and he had no headphones.

  • IM STILL WATCHING THIS DUDE 1998 WAS DOPE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO COMPUTERS.....

  • I wonder if someone has ever done that many disses in a 6min battle set since??

    Dope fo sho!!

  • 1 of the most entertaining set of all time. Too bad his needles were skipping like crazy.

  • his word play is sickkkkkk

  • The crowd responses during the intro disses is amazing!!

  • Dummy is a legend. Fuck fake ass crews like C2C.

  • I can imagine how intense it was for DUMMY, specially with Steve Dee and Roc Raida sitting to the right of him. What I like about Dummy's set is that it was extremely original and even when the needles skipped or fucked up, He made it look like it was part of his persona in the routine. Dope stuff. Still one of the illest DJ's alive.

  • Dope!

  • HIs needle was skipping all over the place but still amazing set

  • 13 years on and still one of the best DMC sets ever.

  • dummy should have been in 2nd place!!

  • 2:44...Forget about it....

  • @Paintavulgarpolaroid I didn't say dummy invent anything; I said he use original records unlike break records, like Craze.......... Plus 90 percent of his record were from the 80's; at that time Dummy was 16 or 17... I don't care what ppl on this page say that dummy routine wasn't that clean.. Nobody is dancing to it. It is not a dance floor; nor a club... It is a battle of tricks on the wheel of steel

  • @TheBrainfood Yeah, thnx baby.... You have a point also. but Kanye weird anyway.. I think he bi polar or HTDD.... TRUE STORY.... YEAH MONEY DOES PLAY A BIG PART.. TRUST ME .. THOSE JUDGES GET THEIR PALMS GREASED TOO....

  • DJ DUMMY "THE GENIUS " CAN BE FOLLOWED ON TWITTER @IMDJDUMMY

Live Every M-F 7am-10am est The Breakfast Club

    ustream.tv /channel/ thebreakfastclub

  • @MicheMori GOOD LOOKIN OUT BABY... I'LL DEFINITLY CHECK HIM OUT...GYEAH...

  • Crazes intro was well clever but dummy just had that b-boy battle flavour to the disses

  • Craze uses breakbeat records.. dummy used original. plus as young as he was they were from the 80's. The trick craze was doing wasn't nothing new. Roc was doing that in 92.. Cash Money did that in 87.... When Craze n Roc Raida went on tour 2 yrs ago. I saw them, N Craze said to the whole crowd that Roc Raida is his idle; and he studied everything he did. TRUE STORY.. Dummy was SPEAKING TO THE DJ'S on WAX. Very original.. I don't hate.. Fuck those judges. They get their palms rubbed too. MONEY!!

  • I luv the newschool era dj's from the 90's , they all have that flava and the true technical skills working with real dusty vinyls on the decks...that's real Turntablism.

  • l notice DJ Dummy didn't use a BREAK record one time, like Craze did.. Craze stayed on the BREAK record for about 4 minutes. wow. THAT SHIT WASNT FAIR @ ALL. Dummy had old rap songs from the 80's.. n what was Dummy age then? 17? Craze doesnt no anything bout. that. Craze probably start listening to rap in the early 90's like those others wanna b's. U know! That y black BATTLE DJ'S n NYC stop entering DMC contest: n go into mixtape INDUSTRY..MO MONEY.GYEAH Hey Dummy! Your a Genius! FUCK THEM

  • yo that routine was SICKKKKKK! if it weren't for craze and shorkut, he would've won!

  • CLASSIC ~!

  • yoooooo!!!! look at dummy go he was even on fire then.

  • before 1 shot samples and serato.

    when dmc had soul

  • @TheDJdkutz Agreed 100%

  • This is all pre-SERATO, HATERS!

  • lol dj audio 1^

  • @NIvz4Zb Someone said "I dont see where his laptop is" SMH FML!!

  • what track comes in at 2:34-2:36

  • Comment removed

  • Dope routine and he would've placed higher but them needles weren't workin for him.. He's the only dj I seen use ortofons in a battle.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrMaxPounder look bitch he ain't win THIS shit, thats what i'm talkin bout dick... the fuck u don't understand?

  • @Punnch08 fuck you. what are you high??

  • and those are the black ones imagine what he would have been like with the pink ones

  • @Punnch08 Kentaro uses ortofons

  • wats the name of the track oat 5:56

  • We'll always love big poppa @ 5:56

  • thank u alot

  • he coulda won lol wats tha last track he uses tht he mixes with dummy

  • All time best diss set. Had he been cleaner that night, he could have beaten a certain Nicaraguan...but dope regardless.

  • holy fuckin shit...this guy is incredible...i knew he was sick when i saw him at the roc raida tribute at bbkings...just plain insanity!!!!

  • werd

  • bringing the Battle back to the competition. Dope!

  • Dummy was dissing everybody without using battle records

Dmc usa 98 was very competitive apart from defending champ dj slyce ( his routine was awful) .Grandmaster flash ,Dst ,Afrika bambaata & Apollo were inducted in the hall of fame

Dj develop was nice.but craze was the star.

  • damn,,,dat waz jus classic

  • This shit was done PROPER...... fuck all the "oh, that shit was sloppy/messy not clean enuf." bullshit man he made those turntables RAP he hand picked every line and made them rhyme and they were aimed at every other DJ on the roster. Dummy did his fuckin' homework mate and no mutha fucka was ready to hear themselves get dissed as bad as Dummy dissed them that night. Historical.

  • @rhymezgalore your very right and i couldnt have said it better myself this is most evil routine imaginable a few mistakes just cant be helped at that level of competition and pressure

  • @rhymezgalore that's truth right there. this set out of all of them reminded me of the essence of hip hop and b-boy culture, competition. DMC went downhill after this, way too technical

  • @rhymezgalore His needles were skipping like crazy. I was there! 1998 Hammerstein Ballroom NYC. Great event!

  • @djdonniewoo actually it was at Irving Plaza....

  • @noisicerp Irving plaze right! Its been13 years ago =( What a great show. I miss the times when you had to dig crates and not edit all the bits and samples with programs to create your set. Currently most djs taint the art, kind of like how rappers use autotune. But I love it all.

  • @djdonniewoo wasn't that 1999 world finals? I was there too! Dope!

  • @ragmeister80 I was up on the top section still great seats. Where were you at?

  • @rhymezgalore Dummy's intro was epic...he went in on EVERYBODY In that battle, they dont do it like that no more

  • @rhymezgalore true but he used up nearly half is time doing so.

  • @readybeeill it was also the highlight of his set and one of the highlights of the night, helping to secure him 3rd place..

  • @rhymezgalore I loved Dummy's set that night...and I was in the battle! I'm glad I was one of the couple of dj's he didn't diss that night , because no one expected that, lol. Salute & respect to Dummy, a great dj AND entertainer !

    Mysterio

  • @mysterymediacorp Haha, DJ Mysterio with the crazy Coke cans! Props man!

  • indeed not the cleanest cuts but very very nice.... !!

  • not the best juggles but it was very good if he cleans it up he would be betta

  • amazing

  • and some of you...stink to me lol what a legend. not the cleanest but one of the most entertaining sets ever.

  • Dummy was dope but....Craze just went harder....juggles were cleaner....and his scratchin...this was battle that sent craze off to the moon!

  • fucked it

  • big l 4 life

  • clever selection......a little, and I mean just a little sloppy in sections but damn entertainment nonetheless

this is what turntablism really needs again....entertainment value and the real battle factor added

  • Still one of my favorite routines.

  • wats the record that he plays on 2:29 thanx

  • Das EFX - Jussumen

  • 4:05 fail...

  • You need to check "It's a Demo" by Kool G Rap and Polo (the song he used to diss Slyce). Word.

  • what song does he put on at 3:18?

  • Aaliyah - Are You That Somebody?

  • i was there! Hammerstein Ballroom NYC

  • LOL Thats awesome... i love the "Head back 2 Kansas.

  • thanks, i found out a few days ago, that's actually Aaliyah & Timbaland - Are You that Somebody (prod Timbaland)

interesting to see how Dummy makes it sounds as a drum&bass track beatjuggling it at 45 rpm. at the end of his show, i'm sure he knows he won't win and he may regrets to have missed the 45/33 switch !! very good show, anyway.

  • this was during the peak of battle djing.. he even disses develop (now producer for lil wayne) in this routine. the best diss routine ever, he clowned the whole stage... actually this whole battle is one of the best ever. everybody who participated in it, swiftrock, precyse, craze, develop, shortkut, damn i know im forgetting more but thats all i can name off the top of the head. but lets put it this way, you will never see this group of people at one place like this again...

  • SUN IS SO SICK

  • Ohh my my DJ that was farking crazyyy...

  • Dummy juggles a very famous track between 3.17 & 4.05, what is it ?? thanks everybody

props to Dummy, too bad, that year, Craze was taking off !!! (too bad, he misses the 45 switch, also)

  • fingerslicking, umm itz by aaliyah, tho kant remember the name.. so i guess this aint no help...lol

  • This remains my favourite routine of all time

    RIDICULOUS

  • he should have won that year...

  • This DJ is a REAL battler, not only by showing his skills, but also by calling out and dissing all the other DJs in the competition. I still have this video, you know!

  • shit,,,,Craze is my dude, but I still feel it was a tie!

  • ayo nuff sed...

  • ILLLLLLL!

  • Dats my brother

  • i mean 1998

  • thx for posting this

    nice set-- 1999

  • Without a doubt one of the most creative routines I´ve ever seen! Mad respect. Anyone knows the records he´s using at 4:05?

  • what is the name of the beat at 5:08??

  • Puff Daddy & Faith Evans ft. 112 - "I'll be missing you"

  • damn..That was a Nice routine LoLL

  • this was a sick routine - original and smart with the lyrics and all that

  • Anyone know the song @ 2:04?

  • kool g rap and dj polo - its a demo

  • DUMMY DID HIS FUCKING THING

  • This is one of the best diss routines eva!! word.

    Tw

  • damn right he should have taken 2nd place man

  • yeah i agree

  • god damn that was good lol

ol skool shit names and cuttn oh good stuff

  • homeboi was ill!!!

  • Very nice set, and sickly creative, I think it was a tad bit sloppy at times but well though out , dj dummie still hold it down, he doesnt really get the limelite like the others

  • dummy was intelligent with his set, i thought he was the bollocks.

  • true battle set, can't compare with the suckaz nowadays at dmc,and lord finesse presenting :D

  • now that is a true battle set

  • Still one of my favorite battle videos ever. The way he just murdered all the DJ's by name, mad creativity and putting the set together. Reminds me alot of how NOIZE used to do his stuff, but with more NY Swagger that Dummy brings to the tables.

  • dope video, i think crazes set was the best he ever done in this battle! Shortkuts & develops routines were sickk also

  • dope video, i think crazes set was the best he ever done in this battle! Shortkuts & develops routines were sickk also

  • Damn, '98 was just a fucking AMAZING year for the art of turntablism. If you thought this U.S. DMC video was good, the I.T.F. World Final vid, from the same year was even better! Anyway, going back to the battle above, I always thought Develop should've at least got 3rd place.

  • classic!!!!

  • This is still one of my fav battle routines i've seen in a long while.

  • tough breaks for Dummy. He should've did the Dj Swamp and set those turntables on fire.

  • lol damn straight disses like 5 djs a the begining i never even seen or heard of dummy before. Thanks xDestrado.

  • It was actually 7 djs...Alejuan was the Kansas DMC regional champ that year....then he dissed Develop, Craze, Do Boy, Shortkut, Kuttin Kandi, and Slyce

  • nah you missed one...Presyce from Chicago

  • my bad brother

  • its all good homey!

  • don't thank me, thank IMPACT for the post. im just a favorites whore. if you want though subscribe to my favorites, everytime i see a hot vid i usually add it just so i can have it as reference.

  • OFF THE CHAIN! unique steelo and the juggles are fresh as well.

  • i remember watching a zebra battle tape, forgot what year but a guy named fresh was wearing the same exact outfit and same style routine. Half of his routine was disses and the other half was headnodic beat juggles with body tricks. Well anyways just wondering if you knew if there from the same crew?

  • yea they were definately part of the same crew 12" Assasins. LS-One (DMX's DJ) and Ruckus were also members.

  • I remembered Fresh when I first met him in Richmond...that little brother had straight heat in his sets.
