great film 1 of my favs, none of my mates have ever hurd of it.
i watched a documentry about john mills the other day, he was saying at the end of that scene in the bar he was drunk as they used real beer and the director kept wanting another take lol great job, paid to get drunk.
Classic film, but did anyone notice the 'gaff' in the actual final scene?
When they take Van de Pol away they pass a parked landrover --- didn't have them 'till well after the war! Still a clasic and a favourite and Sylvia I love you
Is there a scene in this film where the truck is giving all it had to climb a deep rutted hill? While going up the the front and rear wheels spin from loosing traction. I believe it to be one of the later scenes in the film? Thanks for any response!
I havnt seen this film since the early 80's. One of the U.S. networks would play this film on the saturday matinee at least twice a year, but after cable it seemed to stop. Like the film gigot with gleason. What a bummer. Would love to see it again.
And for hardcore fans, here's Katy for sale: go to Milweb look under Vehicle Park, "Medium" trucks and you will find a very nice K2 - called "Sylvia" - no coincidence, I'm sure.
Just about my favourite war movie. I love the sand dune scene. And Sylvia Syms is indeed stunning in it - and now she's the Queen Mum. Final shot cut also missed one of my favourite movie anachronisms, a Land Rover (not made till 1948) parked on the street. Much thanks for posting.
Indeed, I know that one, as 633 Sqadron is another favourite, as one of my boyhood heroes was an RCAF Mossie pilot and my gf's dad was an armourer on them. More fave scenes from Alex are "SAS" spikes the gas, and "Col. Blimp meets an 88" and "human jack" - what a great pic. Apparently there's also a Champ with the Landy outside the bar - don't recall it. BTW, re your nick: I loved John Carter of Mars books - with all the cgi and acceptable nudity these days, it's time for some big-budget movies.
The Germans are running around in American M3a half tracks the mobile gun that stops the intruped group is american Priest.
Apparantly through the grape vine they are working on a John Carter of Mars film, the hard part I have been led to belive is the making of the final designs for the creatures. All I say is copy those already been done in the Marvel comix, and by the artists' Valejo and Frazetta they seem to have got it right. I hope they dont mess the stories around as there so good.
One of my favourite films of all time. I've reancted that scene a few times after some long hard travels. And Sylvia Sims. Phew. She looks a bit older now though.
I think we all av travelled a long way in hot sticky weather wanting a nice cold beer. Slyvia Syms seems to keep her cool and looks great throughout the film. Age who cares :) thanks for that lol
great film,,,,,,,,,,,,but they lied in the narration at the beginning.
the story was not true at all.

Good editing.
All that way just to get a lager. Probably the best Carlsberg advert in the world.
War films will always be the daddy , esp with John Mills in them.
Slvia was some top tottie then hey.

Yep I saw that, also if you watch 633 squadron spot the MkI landy hid behind some bushes transport for two officers with bins. Never mind. He He.

They missed the bit where the silly mare left the handbrake off. Still I'd forgive her...
Allegedly it took several takes and Mills was ratted by the end.

I had to delete it as it made it too long for uploading. Silly mare he He. :)
