  • but I'm left with one question - how many takes did it take to film the tablecloth shot?

  • What I liked most about this episode was how they portrayed the relationship between Holmes, Watson and Lestrade. All too often Lestrade has been depicted as a tolerated bungler. In the original stories Holmes actually liked him and said he was the best of a bad lot, if I remember correctly. I'm glad I found this episode. Thanks for uploading it.

  • Aww. That last scene with Lestrade and Holmes is so adorable. <3

  • :'( Lestrade! Holmes is about to cry! 47:34

  • @baharehut I cried

  • @arttron so did I. even after the 10th viewing! it's a defining moment.

  • Jeremy was brilliant. He was over than 50, but he was very elegant and sexy. That Italians were brilliant too, especially "PUTTAAAAAAAAAAANA!!!!!!!!!!"

  • that guy looks a little bit like robert downey jr

  • Thank You x 10 to the 8th power.

Jeremy Brett was the best Sherlock IMO.

    gksudo out

  • @evancisco the best was and still is basil rathbone

  • My favorite of all the episodes. The untranslated Italian is perfect, the acting and cinematography superb. Brett at the height of his powers, I agree---all other Holmes pale, Brett has the character perfectly. Those rolled r's!!! That disdainful sneer and sniff!!

  • 43:21

    That is so awesome <3

  • 30:29

Look at that grin! How adorable <3

  • I have to say that the final exchange between Lestrade and Holmes is a masterful showcase for the incredible dramatic skills of Mr. Brett. His face is so expressive, but with not a hint of cheap histrionics. The deep emotion felt in full measure, yet only fugitive hints allowed to show, the slight glistening of his hypnotic eyes, the parting of his lips, good heaven help us, what an actor !

  • Troi from Star Trek TNG! :)

  • The end dialogue between Lestrade and Holmes really shows how the two have developed a grudging admiration towards each other and that Holmes secretly perhaps wanted that admiration

  • @dystopian786 agreed. Very intense moment, I must say.

  • I really liked this episode for some reason, maybe it was because Holmes and Watson were basically making fun of Lestrade trough the whole episode or just the epic way in which Holmes came to his conclusion at the end......Jeremy Brett the REAL Sherlock Holmes all others can royally suck it HA!

  • @DDX1944 hey smuck have you ever heard of basil rathbone.he's first, brett is second

  • That's Deanna Troi!

  • Thank you for taking the time to post so many episodes in such quality. This particular story, though it is not the most important in the Sherlock Holmes chronology, truly embodies the spirit and themes of the series.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for uploading these! <3 I was rewatching the series on Netflix and they took it off streaming and I was heartbroken. I searched for it on youtube on a whim that I might find it and I find FULL episodes of ALL of them! You are an amazing human being. :) <3 I love this series. This has brought me great joy and nostalgia(from when I was a kid and watched them with my parents.) :D Thank you~!

  • Silly Lestrade, mysteries are for holmes!

  • 33:36 that's a scary gun, I tell ya LOL No wonder the first guy survived after a knife wound. Oh, Italians are so insanely melodramatic, I think that's why I love them:)

  • great!!!

  • wow i knew theres something on that bust

  • at this dates sub tittles are nt implied yet to films and tv series

  • @joan200777 I actually prefer it the way it is without the subtitles, as the audience is left to interpret the situation based upon the acting at the beginning. Besides, it better that we not see some of their expletives translated at the bottom of the screen.

  • That's one of the best Sherlock Holmes episodes I've seen so far. Jeremy Brett as Mr Holmes is perfect. I really like his expressions *___*

  • beautiful slut

  • Brilliant from start to finish!

Though I am certain I read this story when I was young, it was great to see the oft-mentioned adaptation of it. Jeremy was really a fabulous actor. There is great subtlety in all his gestures, from his wildest outbursts to his nuanced facial expressions. *sigh*

Thank you so much, gelert, for allowing me the pleasure. :)
