Harmony; the lost art. Well done, Sarah. And macque411, my sincere condolensces to you for your loss. Listening to the song after reading your story touched me deeply. Which is a pretty powerful thing, all things considered. Thank you.
@macque411 I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My parents had only 29 years, as they had been married rather late, (29 and 31 years of age was OLD in 1961) but that is at least close to 33 years, to give me a point of reference for all that you've lost.
@DarrellLJames Thanks for your thoughtful reply. True, people generally married earlier in the early 60s. I'm glad your parents shared 29 yrs together. It seems they raised a gentleman, of whom they would be proud.... :)
I lost my mum in september 2011, my dad in 2000, my unborn child with 23 weeks 18 years ago, my brother 30 years ago... If I could only have you here.... it hits home in the dark december days, not only specially around christmas... this song soots my soul...
@Sundown4411 thank you very much... trying to close the chapters of my life's book and write new ones as time goes... what doesn't kill you , makes you stronger for sure...
@RJK4321 So true. I lost my husband in March 2011, so this is my first Christmas without him after 33 yrs. It's such a tender, bittersweet, melancholy song. Perfect for me as winter sets in and Christmas approaches. I am feeling an emptiness, but I know he is with me in my heart. If I could only have him near to breathe a sigh or two, I would be happy just to hold the hands I love on this winter's night with him. Peace and love to you.
@macque411 So sorry for your loss. Hang in there, and remember all the good times you had with him over all those years. God bless, and have a wonderful Christmas.
@macque411 Bless you and your memories of your man. I lost my wife 3 years ago. And this song makes me really miss her. But it also conjures such great memories of what we shared and how much she was loved. He is with you as long as you remember him in special ways like this.
I first heard this version of Gordon Lightfoot's classic song on the US tv show Providence.Couldn't believe it was thee same song, frankly.Sarah's arrangement is so different.I love it...so nice for the holiday season
You know this is a great video when the comment section is full of kind words instead of trolls.

Three people appear to lack any semblance of a soul for some reason.

Not a Christmas song....its a song about loneliness....loss...perhaps permanent....maybe temporary
"I read again between the lines upon the page
The words of love you sent me
If I could know within my heart
That you were lonely too"
That passage is simply........devastating........
