@Ojaiuser - I used a smooth white sided plywood board to make my mold, then ran the side of my electric sander around all the edges right after pouring the concrete to vibrate as many bubbles out. It came out pretty smooth, there are a few small holes but I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I also sealed the concrete so it doesn't get stained.
Great work...did you hook the gas pipe up to a propane tank or natural gas line? Couldnt see from the video. I am in the process of building a modern patio as well and will be having a decorative fence and planters similar to yours. The fire pit/coffee table would be a great addition!
This is awesome. I want my husband to make the fire pit. Can you tell me the dimensions? How wide is the base and the top? It looks like you went 3 bricks high, and I can see the length, but I can't figure out how many wide you went, or how big the concreat top is. So beautiful!!!

@Ojaiuser I drilled the holes about 1" apart (I recommend 2" apart for the first and last few holes) drill size 3/32, drill at a slight angle to reduce the whistle effect.
great work,,,if it was me i would have acid stained th concrete floor first and painted the back wall ,,,but you can still do it,,,hope you enjoy it it looks great as it is too
Very nice Thank you

one more question, how did you finish the concrete top? Did you have to fill any pin holes? did you have to sand it smooth?

I hooked my gas line to natural gas, but a tank would work also. It would just cost more to run. Good luck with your project!

nice work! Did you pour the concrete top that fire pit or was it purchased somewhere?

@00Mandingo00
Thx - I poured the top, then had 3 guys help me flip it and put it in place on top.

Thank you! For the brick base I used 9.5 x 2.5 blocks. The top slab is 91x35x2.6 inches the fire opening is 11x67"
I used a 5' gas pipe and drilled the holes 1" apart facing downward.

@DARE0666 What size holes did you drill, and how far apart? Thanks for your help, my husband has started!! Can't wait.

What were the clear stones you used in the fire pit? Also, how is the gas setup to burn safely and evenly like that? Looks great!
bamchicawahwow 2 years ago
Thank you!
The clear "stones" are accually broken glass pieces. Just google "firepit glass".
I took a 5' gas pipe and drilled holes about 1 inch apart, then installed the pipe with the holes facing down.
