My son does not eat rice at all though we are primarily rice eaters. I always wanted to make paratha for him so he gets his veggies too. But I was intimidated coz i am just learning to do chapathis for him. This recipe you showed is so simple, I made this today for him and he had it with allam pachadi.

  • hey chef ...as ususal u were absolutely fantastic..!!

my version of aloo paratha is that i also add finely chopped ginger..and lots of corriander leaves.. :) n since everyone is health conscious these days..i make it on the tava and close put one drop of oil on both sides so thats 2 ..maybe u can avoind that also... then close it witna lid..so it cooks on its own steam.. then u turn n cook evenly...thats all..no butter nothing..done

  • hiya guys and ladies i wanted to know if the paratha became too oily what would b the best solution for that. cuz i can make the parotha but during the kneading it became way too crispy.

so i couldnt roll it out. i figured out from vahchef's show that the oil is more than it shud b

whats the solution to this?. cud sum1 help??

  • i just love this guy... he is a well wisher.he gives pros & cons of doing something in a certain way.keep up the good cooking!

  • Paratha Is also called Rothi :)

  • no u are wrong... roti and paratha is differnt.

  • Roti (aka chappati) are not the same as paratha. Paratha is made with ghee (or butter) which gives it a completely different taste and texture.

  • Tastes best with bacon or pork grease mixed into the potatos.

  • What do you say when you say "the filling should either be mindst or gratet fine". What are the correct words for mindst and gratet and what do they mean?

  • minced or grated?

It means in very small pieces.

  • minced or grated means like finely chopped probably using a cheese grater.

  • I fell in love with stuffed paratha when the executive chef of shangri-la hotel in new delhi made me one. So crisp and wonderful I ate it with yogurt and pickels for 5 days.

Unfortunately, I have no chance to go back to India. But I continue to long for that paratha. Good thing I've found how to make it in youtube! And the best demo so far is from you Chef Sanjay. You are so enthusiastic and shows cooking with fun and ease! You are a lovable cook. Namaste!
