Many of the new people that are getting infected with hiv (nowadays 2009) are acquiring a mutated virus that is very likely to be resistant to all available antiretroviral therapy (specially if the person that gave them hiv was taking antiretroviral therapy).

thats what i'm saying. there are extremely effective HIV treatments present now HAART and of course .. not to mention.. Protease inhibitors. its a chronic illness now with almost normal life expectancy. AIDS is now a history !

thats good that you work in a hospital but you should also know that HAART and protease inhibitors prolongs this sickness for atleast 25 years now that leads to AIDS. its AIDS that kills not HIV and as long as your HIV is treated well, its not a death sentence. please correct me if i'm wrong as you are a professional but i think i'm not wrong.

i remember this kid... they made a movie about him after he died. People were still learning about the disease back then. It's very unfortunate that with all the research and investment in treatments and awareness over the past 25 years, you'd think people would be a lot smarter about AIDS and it's origin....

Actually, the movie was made before he died. The movie came out in 1988. The guy that played Chad in the movie was the real Ryan White. Ryan died in 1990.
