Saw him in London last week... very goo. Neil Finn came on stage at the end and they did a fab version of "I Got You" the old Split Enz song, and then the pair of them beat the shit out of both drum kits. Wonderful.
@InvisibleGuitarisst Iffin you like the use of loop pedals. . . you should check out a cat called Dub FX. . . He is actually a beat boxer who layers everything live on the spot with loop pedals. . . Pretty sick stuff. . . watch?v=Gc67C94wSx0
@elianakatie : Common on fair play.... EJ's as australian as you get! You guys can keep Liam, he seems a little too haunted. We still claim his ol' man though. Fairs fair.
@nap1056 It's Eliza Jane. Her sister. =) So good. Although she can be a little dodgey at times, sometimes she's amazing. And her and Liam just have a thing. It's so nice.
One of New Zealand's most authentic musicians. Keep up the good work Liam! Really enjoy the thought and care put into his music. I also want to say that I am tired of the hypocritical mainstream attitude of Zealand musicians mimicking American musicians but hating Americans despite ripping-off their music and lyrics. I give credit to people like Liam who do not do this type of shit! And who can dive deep into his own roots producing something that has its own quality. Thank you!
@anglinthemtns At first I didn't like Liam because from the limited exposure I had to him at the time he seemed to be all falsetto and I didn't like that, then I saw this and grew up a little bit at the same time and am so proud of him.
@yuppy64 Agreed - I first heard the studio version of this song and was reminded a bit too much of Jake from the Scissor Sisters (he's got to stop that falsetto). But Liam's falsetto is much lower, and not annoying, and at least imbued with some emotion.
I think he is tuned down a half step to Eb. Also he is using some different fingerings for chords which made it seem weird at first when I was trying to figure it out. On the Dm chord he is omitting the bass note D. On the Eb he is playing it with the G shape at the 11th fret but just playing on the 5,4,3,2 strings. and the G# and G chords doing the thumb for the bass note skip the 5th string type of chord.
Fantastic performance, complete with loops and gradual build up to frenetic drumming climax. Great. (Wish someone would post the Sound Relief version of this song).
@shogeren Ya, agreed. I seen him first on Letterman, and my jaw was literally on the floor all through the last commercial, then I found this version later, hes talented just like the rest of his family. I didn't even know he was in the business! Album version is lame. Video is too hipster, all it's missing is a fixie bike, a $12 artisan beer, and an emo pancake-ass girl.
Wow, awesome musicianship, you have to be good to appear on Jools's show and he was, they were

How cool, met this band via Pearl Jam 20 clips, I'm a sucker for guitars and had to see how he does this overlaying parts with effects!

Watch out there Liam, you nearly fell off the Drum kit. Quite a lot of energy spilling out of the rotor blades even after the music stops!
