Having a problem the new spiderman being black is not racist. Maybe its simply the fact that they shouldn't change something that's iconic. Peter Parker is spiderman just as Clark kent is superman and Bruce Wayne is batman. It's not racist if you don't like the new spiderman. We didn't like Ben Reily either!! Peter Parker is spiderman. This miles character may not be bad but give him his own super hero name/powers. The ultimate line as far as I'm concerned was always for newbies.

I read it from the first book to the 6 and i have to say that Miles Morales is a very interesting character the fact that he starts being spider man as a child gives him so much potential the whole concept is just amazing but i am pissed of that in book 6 they changed the design : (( Cant wait till they kill of the new movie spider man and bring this one in it would be spectacular

I honestly do prefer the originals. However, I do feel like there needs to be more non-white heroes out there. I mean people do tend to identify to characters their own skin color and physical likenesses, so there it is.
We need more non-white villains, too. It's almost always some rich white guy which really annoys me. Instead they make the non-whites aliens or monsters, that people can barely identify with, to avoid racism accusations.

"What you want a black superman? Are you saying all black people are super strong." That's why you've got heroes with "magic" or "magic-like" powers such as the green lantern. Because his powers come from his ring, it is undeniably not originating in his race. To earn the ring in fact, he had to be moral and just.
Miles is the future free to have his story go anywhere. Parker could only go so far without him being someone else. Miles is a much more flexible and relevant spiderman by leaps and bounds because there are no restrictions or story lines that need to be regurgitated.

@threewiseman1 Honestly, I don't have such deep feelings when it comes to comic book characters. Although the world you speak of where kids can dress up freely in costumes of characters they don't share an ethnicity with is ideal, it is pretty unrealistic. Until then, if an author decides to kill off a hero and change the ethnicity in the next character to don the mantle and title that it passes with little notice or care.

The new spiderman doesnt "love white chicks" because hes gay. And I have no problem with him being black and/or gay, BUT Peter Parker is the spiderman I grew up with! Marvel is out of their minds if they think that 30 YEARS of seeing Peter Parker as spiderman, then deciding to kill him off just to be replaced by someone COMPLETELY OPPOSITE from him JUST BECAUSE a black guy wanted the lead role as Peter Parker in the Amazing Spiderman movie is something long time marvel fans are gonna forget.

What the comic companies need to do is also create some NEW characters that just happen to be ethnic (because a superhero is a superhero no matter what hue they come in) And provide the new characters with great stories just like the old school originals instead of weak storylines that no one is going to buy.

It's hard to cast a black person as a superhero because people can assume you are being racist. "What, you want the flash to be black? Are you saying all black people are fast?" "What you want a black superman? Are you saying all black people are super strong." That's why you've got heroes with "magic" or "magic-like" powers such as the green lantern. Because his powers come from his ring, it is undeniably not originating in his race. To earn the ring in fact, he had to be moral and just.

Miles is the future free to have his story go anywhere. Parker could only go so far without him being someone else. Miles is a much more flexible and relevant spiderman by leaps and bounds because there are no restrictions or story lines that need to be regurgitated.
