I love our 2006 IS 220d for its incredibly great design. However, we have rattles in the cabin as well, fourth gear of the MT keeps on popping out at 70 km/h and the wooden center console gets scratched by looking at it. The Xenon-Lights blow fuses every other day. The trip computer is in English only (thanks for valuing German customers that much). 6th gear of the MT is usable at 150 km/h minimum. Car participated in 3 recalls (seats, belts, steering). The look is breathtaking. Qualtiy? No!
we have a 2001 IS 300 and a 2007 BMW 335i. THe bmw has caused us numerous problems and the build quality is not as good as our lexus which we bought 10 years ago. The bmw drives amazing, dont get me wrong, but the quality and realibility of the lexus is much better.
yeah lexus in not BMW, lexus is comfort, high quality, for me quality is everything that I need from my investment to the car, I have BMW and believe me BMW-is the most Rubbish quality car ever made on Planet earth, tons of continious problems , constant brakes, crap suspension, crap electrics and electronics, very cheap interior materials used, cheap plastics everywhere
The old way of production was to only have one quality check at the end for a full range of faults in a completed car. Another was to just offer a good warranty, so the customer takes on the role of finding quality problems. Lexus' method of preventing any errors and immediate detection and correction before moving to the next step of production is far better for both the company and consumer.
@designerboi69 i think he was talking about they put the car together take it apart put it back together and take it apart again just to check out the problems if there are any quality issues
the 250 AWD is a fine balance between economy and luxury for most, and is unlikely that they will ever consider an AWD 350 (and a manual one at that!)
IS is not a good car. loud road noise, and poor suspension that picks up all road defects

I have a 2009 220d and it is great !!
Everything works - dealers are very helpful.
As for overall quality it runs circles around the BMW 320d
