Thank you for posting this. I live on Maui but have never been up to the top of Haleakala. I was curious about what the road was like.

You have no Idea, driving above the clouds is like nothing else... There was total silence in the car the entire way to the top. I would like to do it again some day... at night...

Thanks for your great comment. The road was excellent. We have loads of wiggly roads like that in Wales. They just don't go up to 10,000 ft!!

I've been 4 times to Maui and driving to the top of Haleakala is something that it's impossible to get tired of doing it...
I can just imagine the difference of driving on this road with a Lotus Elise or a Subaru Impreza STI rather than a rented Ford Crown Victoria...
