  • Lyle Mays is an excellent keyboardist/ composer and this piece made me a fan when I heard it back in the day late 80's. Really great production on this.

  • Steve Gadd's drum fills are little one- bar masterpieces! I have always loved this tune.

  • fantastic..

  • Immenso Lyle!

  • Please post FEET FIRST BY LYLE MAYS. thanks

  • A smooth jazz masterpiece

  • thank you for posting this!!!

  • Lyle Mays and Donald Fagen. How about it?

  • Cool stuff! Indeed...

  • Una genialidad. Toda una joya compuesta por Lyle. Muy buena ejecución y arreglo de vientos.

  • This is a rare incredible album. As many people have comented on songs by Pat and Lyle, this guys are geniuoses and Lyle deserves a LOT more recognition for the work done with Pat..Long live this group! for sure...I thank them for all the great/incredible days I had with their music...hope one day I can meet one or both!..never see them Live which is one of my dreams...from Ecuador..

  • This is a good album, but his first solo LP entitled "Lyle Mays" is a GREAT album.

  • If you ain't heard this album, you ain't HEARD this album! Lyle was getting his cuts on this album! I've been following anyone who's played with Pat since the late 70's...and trust me, without Lyle, there is NO Pat Metheny Group. His sound drives everything they've done. I have all of Lyle's albums. I just wonder what he thought of the song me and my brother wrote I gave him to listen to. *weeps and walks away*

  • The bass line from Steve Rodby is to cool, and yea it does have a Steely Dan feel to it with the horns.

  • A classic! Y'all remember when The Weather Channel used to play these cool smooth jazz tunes between their live broadcasts, when they were showing the local forecasts? I miss THAT Weather Channel. THANKS A BUNCH for posting!

  • @barnstormer4 The channel from the WEATHER CHANNEL that has the constant weather forecast(channel 101 around her on COMCAST CABLE) still plays the same great Jazz tunes, CONSTANTLY.

  • Yes i got this CD from my best friend "Shawn Kevin Letts' father "Sir Dennis Letts" for Christmas 1988.And besides "Bro.Shawn" being extremely Talented & Gifted Musician..his Papa "Sir Dennis Letts" was a great Actor that had featured in many famous Movies that you have seen before!!!Anyway, he had passed away from Cancer during his presence in Chicago while on location & creative support cast for his other son "Sir Tracy Letts" who is the PlayWrite Chicago hit "August: Osage County" play!!

  • Hey Man..it doesn't get any better than this Baby!!!!This tunes Speaks to your Spirit indeed!!!Love You Always my brother Lyle!!!

  • I had this CD since day one. You have to like his stuff!

  • @sophty61 I do. The first time I heard this tune, I fell in love with it.

  • Lyle Mays in Steely Dan mode ;)

  • @Svettjodd In fact, Lyle Mays said this song was directly influenced by Steely Dan's Time Out Of Mind. He said, "I thought if they could do that, I could do it too."

  • @Svettjodd It does sound a bit like Steely Dan,.

  • This is an excellent album. Actually the track "Before You Go" is really my favorite on this CD.

  • I think Lyle is a multifaceted artist. He can be many things at the same time: a music composer, an innovator, a perfect live performer, a scientist, a poet, a Bill Evans, a Chopin, a Debussy, a Schoenberg, a pioneer, but above all, I think, a very nice person.

This album, Street Dreams, is a good example of the energy, emotions and atmosphere that this genius can convey, and what a great master of the musical language Lyle can be.

  • Haven't heard this in years...thank you so much for posting because the tune brings back such happy memories. My hat is off to you...

  • I love this album.....! I got also the first one .....great musician!

  • I was just playing this CD again after 20 yrs...this track is wonderful.

  • LOVE this album: STILL have the cassette!!

  • Lyle IMHO is far superior than Pat Metheny. His first album, "Lyle Mays" (1986) is a masterpiece, "Street Dreams" is a bit weaker in some moments but always keep the atmospheres and the magic of Lyle's music! Please post more!

  • instafave!

had this disc on vinyl oh man the hours of pleasure it brought

  • love, love, love this, boswell..had this on tape...thanks for posting!!!!

  • Classic Lyle Mays from back in the day!! Excellent!!!

  • @TLDavisJazzChannel I knew you'd like that one. Thank you.
