The heart of this song is wonderful, yet the phrase "You give and you take away" was uttered by a rather confused man of God "JOB" the fact is that Satan was taking away from Job with God's permission. I spoke to a non Christian who having heard these words at the funeral of his child felt bitter disgust that God would give this life and then take it away. The question could also be asked does God give cancer and then take it away for some. Is it only good that He gives and then takes away?

That's the whole mystery that God is. We don't know WHY He doesn't anything. We can only see the here & now, not what might happen years down the road. No life on earth is without purpose; that purpose might just be living & having to die, for a reason none of us can know at that time. I can imagine that man's hurt though. It always hurts when someone dies. God doesn't always take away either. One thing is certain though, we all die one day, no matter what, God always takes that.
