  • i am glad to see Richard petty wasn't in that vid,

  • Es MATIAS RICO no MARCO RIAS maldito estupido, ten el respeto de poner el nombre bien.

  • Metallica Unforgiven \m/ !!!!

  • motor racing will never be 100% safe. you can make it safer, but not totally safe. every single one of those drivers gave their life, doing something they loved. we honour them by remembering them. to all that have paid the ultimate sacrifice, RIP

  • I Really don't believe all of these are fatal.

  • People really need to understand that no matter how safe certain forms of racing may be, there will always be something that can still injure or kill a driver. R.I.P. to all of them

  • :( !

  • yes i know they didnt die in a racing accident but maybe you could have put up a pic of them with the years they were alive as some sort of memorial 4 them. you still did a great job putting the rest of it 2gether, keep up the good work

  • Great video. you did miss a few others tho :(

Dale Earnhardt, Davey Allison, Alan Kuwicki. I know there are others but you did a great job putting this together.

  • @shadykb Dale Earnhardt was the very last clip Allison and Kuwicki didnt die in a racing wreck Davy died in a helicopter and Alan in his air plane.

  • In the John Dawson-Damer accident at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2000 one volunteer marshal (Andy Carpenter) lost his life and another lost a leg above the knee

  • "While rushing to the car, I noticed small splotches of a peculiar gray substance marking a trail on the asphalt leading up to the driver. When I reached the car, I was shocked to see that Smiley's helmet was gone, along with the top of his skull. He had essentially been scalped by the debris fence. The material on the race track was most of his brain. His helmet, due to massive centrifugal force, was literally pulled from his head on impact..." a quote from Dr. Steve Olvey from wikipedia- 3:21

  • 4:23 not sure but i think that was in the days of thunder movie

  • 4:56 is kinda scary/disturbing

  • 4:48 - MATIAS RICO.

    Who is Marco Rias?

  • Good Song!!

  • The song isn't really neccessary...

  • just a respect to all these drivers

  • I was there in turn 4 for Dave and eddie's crash.....i was 4 yrs old.....nver forgot the intense fire

  • @tylerfabish this is why the now have spotters for all on track practice etc.

Debora Renshaw had no spotter as it was not required, and if you've ever seen cars travel around Charlotte speedway where this happened you know she had no time to react.

  • who was that at the end?

  • :(

  • respect to all those who died doin what they loved, R.I.P

  • head on* sorry

  • Gordon Smiley 3:16 probably has the worst one here. He hit the wall head at an unbelievable velocity.

It was almost like driving into a concrete wall at full speed. The car couldn't take it and obliterated on impact. If that crash happened today it probably would still be fatal despite all the safety equipment available.

  • 2:35 WTF???

  • @TheDonovan1995 the car got hit on the side

  • Laguna Seca's "Corkscrew" - worst point to have your throttle stuck open. RIP Gonzalo.

  • good vid. Very sad those racers died. The most famous death is probably Dale Earnhardt Sr. RIP every driver that died.

  • the finish sured finished him but least he won the race

  • Russle Phillips got it the worst, be decapitated as well as the rest of his body being sprayed all over the track.

  • @Trueshadow000 On the track they also found what I believe is his left hand, left shoulder blade, an ear, and an eye.

To make a long story short, he was shredded from the breast up.

  • i haaaate unforgiven I .......it's too stupid and boooooring

  • 2:01 are you blind you could see that car a mile away

  • The John Nemechek crash still blows me away. Just does not look like he hit the wall that hard. Good memorial, thank you.

  • 4:56 when that guys head fell back was kind of a grim moment.

  • Dale should have listened to his spotter. Just trying to defend the position for his driver and son...RIP

  • i wanted to say: FUCK YEAHH METALLICA.. but isnted that i say R.I.P. to all the drivers who died not only in this vid but always in racing, doing what they love to do

  • may they all have died as fast as the lived their lives i'm sure they wouldn't have had it any other way ........ checkerd flag to them all

  • That Eric Martin death could have been avoided, i know that was the crash i think that caused the rule that a spotter must be present at all times. But you think someone would like her Crew Cheif or someone would have given her a heads up, no not her fault, 200mph, cant really just magically avoid stuff. But you would think someone would have told her :/

  • atleast they died having fun. RIP

  • 3:59 goodwood festival of speed ?

  • God bless all friends, and families who have lost love ones to the gods of speed. Blaine Johnson, we really miss you.

  • I've raced all my life, I see no pleasure in watching this

  • whatchin these vids makes you think , they knowingly endanger themselves but thats what they enjoyed, big R.I.P drivers,

  • i'm not a huge racing fan, but it's weird how they allow those skinny cars(can't remember the actual name) to keep driving with how easily they can disintegrate as this vid shows.

  • the end comment came with showing dale's death.

  • 2:30 how unluky, some one had to hit him, R.I.P to all that took risks for what they love

  • i do not think he meant the saying "the end" as a mean comment. Just an oversight.

  • well who ever made the video isnt respectful

  • no if someone died in the 'the end' crash , thats not right , its sposed to be a respectful tribute.

  • should racing be banned? the grim reaper hasnt struck lately but be assured in the quest for speed he will strike again if danica were killed or hurt badly the outcry would be overwhelming

  • the marco rias wreck was just disturbing of course the cars that exploded were wack but u really saw the guys head go back man, the "THE END!" wasn't necessary though.

  • 2:57-Incorrect spelling for the driver who died,it is GONZALO RODRIGUEZ

  • The fact some of these crashes don't look 'fatal' is scary. Kubica's accident in f1 was more savage looking than half of these yet he survived

  • OUCH!!!

  • heb respect zij geven hun leven voor plezier voor ons dit is er ergste van de autosport

  • The "THE END!" was really uneccessary, i mean we know it's the end and it's supposed to be sentimental. Rest In Peace all of those who died doing what they loved...

  • I know. If I had made it I wouldn'tve had it in there.

  • @StreetSurvivors77 haha copyright!

  • May these people rest forever more, having given everything in the hope of pleasing others.

The world is a sadder place without them

  • thanks for making this video, we have lost some of the most important drivers in history to driver and mechanical error and some of those arent documented ( my hero Colin Mcrae) and we need to find a way to keep drivers safer in the cars mostly F1 cars because therees nothing protecting the driver.

    thanks again srgtrane (Travis Cameron)

  • Senna? Villeneuve?

  • Wow! great vid! It took me back in time. I was working for Menards when Scott Brayton died(title sponsor). They had turned up the boost on his car and he was reaching 244MPH on the back strech! That was in practice. Unreal. God bless them all!

  • Hey I can no where find the fatal crash of Marco Rias, do you maybe have a longer version of it ?

  • I think its when the guys unconcious then something hits them thats when they die, Massa was incredibly lucky.

    RIP guys

  • May all these drivers have eternal peace for doing what they love.

  • Very good video. R.I.P. for all the losed drivers.

  • at 5:53 he dosebt die he loses his legs

  • Actually, he did die. The force of hitting the wall caused massive internal injuries

  • @RyaninURface1234 You must be thinking of Alex Zanardi .

  • @RyaninURface1234 no thats Alex Zanardi who lost his legs. brayton did die

  • @RyaninURface1234 I think you might be thinkin of alex zanardi he lost his legs in one crash

  • also, i just can not understand blatant hits when the car was already stopped, and then another indycar or stock car comes around a corner and kills the dude by hitting them, on a road course its a bit more understandable, but on an oval, and when the audi hit that blue car, c'mon, you can see a car in front of you stopped, go a different direction, dont hit them.

  • watching crash comps like this make me thankful for modern saftey technology that makes racing safer, its no longer 'oh my god a crash, hes dead!', it was just so dangerous back in the day to race, although it was a bit cheaper! but i am appreciative of whats out there now. R.I.P. fallen heros

  • It was "blaine" johnson

  • 4:50 is not Marco Rias. he was called Matias Rico

  • Most of the times a crash isn't made by a person who drives good, but a person who is driving bad... don't think that if someone is a "racer" that he can't cause a crash with his mistake.

  • With the sad losses we can only make the sport safer and hopefully one day have it so no one is lost racing again

  • I went to school with Blaise Alexanders' brother, Adam. He (Blaise Jr) was a great guy with a bright future. His father, Blaise Sr., runs the biggest Chevrolet dealership in Lycoming County, Pa. The whole family is a respectable bunch and did not deserve this loss.

  • Eric Martin's crash was scary. He was a sitting duck when the other car hit him. I don't know the details but I wonder if there was a yellow flag when the crash happened or if the spotters alerted the drivers.

I remember I was at a local track in Owego NY and watched JD McDuffie race the night before he crashed at the Glen. It was tragic.

  • Them old indycar crashes are brutal.....

  • who i never saw that camera veiw of J.D. McDufies wreck

  • One of the most unnecessary deaths was Keith O'Dor. I have never understood or forgiven Frank Biela for that.

  • I worked for John Dawson Damer and a nicer and more passionate person you would never meet and like all the others went well before there time. But i can say he went doing something he loved RIP to all

  • for some reason people call bikers as psychos... and rarely someone sais something good about them.. if everyone of u considers them crazy then these people in the cars are crazy as well..

  • RIP to all killed.

The Eric Martin death never should have happened....what was she thinking?

  • Well, apparently her spotter was in a position so that he couldn't see Eric's car. Because of this, Deborah didn't know where Eric was or he crashed for that matter, until it was too late.

  • very true, but ARCA or not, spotters are supposed to be on the front stretch, up top......idk if there were yellow lights like there are now but someone should have been able to tell her......terrible

  • Eric's crash occurred during a practice session, and, at the time, ARCA and NASCAR drivers were not required to have radio communication with their spotters during practice sessions. Deborah did not have a spotter in communication with her during the practice session in which the crash occurred. After Eric's fatal crash, NASCAR and ARCA mandated the use of spotters during practice sessions.

  • you can tell she tried to stop

  • Yes, but the other three drivers that missed Martin's car also did not have spotters in position. How did they avoid him and she did not?

  • @bsh009582 i think all these deaths should not have happend

    RIP everyone on this list:(

  • @bsh009582 It wasnt her fault, coming out of that corner at those speeds, how could you tell? Aren't you wondering where her spotters were!?

  • @bsh009582 R.I.P to all Drivers [& spectators] who have been killed in motorosports. ::: You can blame both Deborah & ARCA for Eric Martins death :/. ARCA did not require spotters to be up in the grandstands at the time, and so renshaws spotter [was on a trailer] so the wreck wasn't visible..and so Deborah could not have been told about the wreck, she only saw the wreck until it was to late. She was following a racing line she thought was clear. :( R.I.P

  • @bsh009582 well i know where your coming from but coming from a driver the white car blended in with the white wall she was just practiceing and didn't even know there was a problem on track don't blame her brother

  • @bsh009582 she had no time to stop.

  • marco rias???? his name was matias rico and he was an argentinean driver.he crashed in rio cuarto in 2002,racing in the argentinean formula renault championship

  • Drivers of sports machines are heroes. R.I.P to every driver who died in the heroic way...

  • Crash of US Racing. Good compilation.

  • Gonzalo "Rodrigouse"??

    His name is Gonzalo Rodríguez.

    Wishes.

  • Where's Artyon Senna and Asheligh Cooper?

  • ... yeah and:

    Ratzenberger

    Graham Hill

    Gilles Villeneuve

R.I.P. to all racers who gave there all for there passion...

  • R.I.P DRIVERS DOING WHAT THEY LOVE

  • R.I.P. My fellow racers!

  • 4:02 - wtf ?

  • How does that happen!!!!!??????????? geese

R.I.P John you hit the finish posts

  • John suffered cardiac arrest before the finish line.

He killed the marshal and injurd the other!

  • now i can fully appreciate sir jackie stewarts comments on how racers of his era were burrying there friends on a weekly basis. thank god that safety has improved so much in the last decade. i think i hadnt heard of a single seater death between the period of ayrton sennas death up to the traggic loss of henry surtees. unfortunately, this is what people will talk about most. RIP to every racer that has lost thier life, especially those in this film.

  • in all the times of watching racing, still must say that smiley wreck is ugliest i've seen. the details on the book that came out a few years ago fill in any blanks on how savage it was.

  • dude tht is 1 rare view of sr crash

  • in a way, you feel that its better that the drivers die quickly rather than slowly and painfully, you see what i mean. RIP

  • Here's a perfect example of what could happen "back then" when Nascar drivers didn't use helmet harnesses.

    watch?v=fhINPYcO_2s&feature=related

Such a small crash, yet he got his spine jammed up his brain.

  • BTW, That was Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s fatal crash, and he didn't get his spine jammed up his brain, but that does sound cruel, he had a basalar(don't know how to spell it. LOL) skull fracture.

  • That is indeed true, his spine separated from his skull, so it was the other way around :P

  • Yeah! DUH! If you get your spine jammed up your brain, you would have to have something fall on top of your head, and your head would have to be straight, like an open wheel car.

  • Meaning that today very very few people ever die from crashes. The safety techniques have improved beyond anything imagined back then.

Crash a F1 or Rally car like they do today 15 years ago and the driver would have been reduced to paste.

  • Lots of terribly unnecessary deaths in Nascar etc before they got the drivers to use the head harness stuff. Their spines were driven into their brains when crashing even moderately.

It's almost unnerving to watch modern motor-sport crashes and compare the level of violence to the 70s-90s ones. Nowadays Rally cars gets completely totaled and wrapped around trees while the drivers simply step outside, kick the car in frustration and curse their bad luck for not finishing the race.

  • what a ridiculous death at 4:00. REST IN PEACE

  • i feel so sad for the dude that was in the car at 1:03

  • Thanks for the video, some of these drivers I had never heard of before. Rest in Peace.

  • It's sad to have seen these drivers die. RIP

  • RIP "Chargin" Charlie Jarzombek. One Of The Greatest Modified drivers ever.

  • Totally - The MOST EXCITING driver I have ever seen behind Earnhardt. I still have my Jarzombek club jacket. I miss that man he made me so happy when he won. He made me a race fan for life but, I don't think anyone will ever come close to his level again.

  • Nice song, Metallica FTW. R.I.P. all who died in this :(

  • some of those crashes were unbelievable. the ones that were really sad is when there was a stopped car on the track, and some guys comes and rams into it.

  • good video, but very sad

  • is marco campos the the son of the guy thats starting campos gp in f1?

  • If Eric Martin had hit that car that had to go up high to miss him while he was sliding up the track, he would STILL BE ALIVE because Deborah Renshaw wouldn't have hit him.

  • wow nice vid dude. make some more :)

  • I had made another one, but F1 Management removed it. Probably because it had Henry Surtees's crash.

  • good video, find more or make more that was good.

  • I just uploaded another tribute to my Nemechek8 account. Again, I didn't make it, but it's still good.

  • @StreetSurvivors77 It says Nemechek8 was suspened, do you know why?

  • Yeah. It was the damn WMG. They claimed copyright on a compilation & that was strike 3.

  • ima look up henru surtees crash
