It's strange the way this music makes me feel... Kind of reminds me of childhood memories mixed with stuff i saw in dreams... It's quite hard to describe.
@Verokomo this music is deep, it invokes your subconscious feelings, dark nature of humanity. I think that's the whole point of Fever Ray. All music is emotional, but she goes for some really deep emotions. She is a really smart girl, a true thinker. You can see she has no problem with logic, so she doesn't need to skim the surface of consciousness by making music about love/hate/world/peace/money/success. It is not interesting, since it is obvious. She goes for you primal, while staying normal.
@Valholm Well said. I agree with you. ... i don't mean about the douchebag part of course. Hehe
Coincidentally i discovered her music at about the same time i started reading about Jung and the unconscious. I could definitely make a connection. :)
@SecretFBKR you don't have to understand something to enjoy it. i know you're looking for answers but sometimes things are constructed so purposefully vague that there may not be any, or that each person will put their own meanings to a work of art. it's also possible to be so deeply personal that other people simply CAN'T understand something because they did not experience it. get a discussion going by telling us what YOU think it means?
yeah, i figured that out once I read their page on their website. It's pretty dream like, someone spiritual or something like that; different; that is doing something with the water, idk im not very creative :/ But the Fever Ray is defiently something amazing!
@DoomsDaySlip - I miss being able to have those late night moments of reflection. Living in a city has quite possibly eliminated one of the best places and times for me to really listen to music. :(
@DoomsDaySlip i love driving to stuff like this too or really old sad southern folk forloned vocal with hollow wood sounding instruments ....windows down!!!

@BlightedSkiez You're right, but she had showed herself couple times.. For example in Music Video - The knife 'Pass this on' So sometimes u can see her without any strange mask ;)

@164ItsAllAboutMe164 Hey now, I though our generation gave that music exactly the reputation it deserves, and not a terribly bad one either.
As far as electronic music being "on the grid" so to speak, I'd have to say that computers DOMINATE contemporary music as an instrument in almost every popular genre. So I think it's pretty well accepted at this point...
I think this song is literally about magpies roosting at her house, causing all sorts of ruckus and making it impossible to sleep. They came for the fruit on her property, and found her house a great place to live (perhaps in the attic). After some research, I also found that there's a Swedish superstition that makes a magpie sitting outside your window a death omen.
@Contraceptive Been a few folk suggestin' that it's a metaphor for her havin' trouble dealin' w/ her kids while they're at that age that jus' keep you up all day and all night "the night is long, the day even longer" and a part of her wantin' to jus' get away from it "can I come round for a while?".
Some of them go into much more detail about it, too so it's pretty convincin'. Only thing they don't explain is "triangle walks". My best guess is that it's a road on the horizon; no end in sight.
My fave song on the album, gorgeous. Took me ages to appreciate Karin/The Knife's work but when I finally got it I was hooked. Can't wait for the new (proper) Knife album.
