If you actually listen to the song it's supposed to be auto-tuned to give it that african music type approach or whatever it is because there music is suppose to be like a indie/alternative african music crossover if that makes sense :D but yeah Ezra <3 can still sing :)

@twostepsteezy I agree with you that t-pain can sing well w/o auto-tune (he's still a shitty artist imo though). I actually saw that video. I disagree with you that you have to be a good singer to use auto-tune. I saw that interview with Ellen and it seemed like she could record an album by today's standards. But seriously, I'd rather hear an off key but still good human voice sing than some obnoxious perfectly on key robot. I as a paying customer DO NOT WANT THAT P.O.S. on my music!!!

The Hollenbeck Recreational Center (we call it hollenbeck park) is literally less than a mile away from where I live and when I heard about Vampire Weekend coming so close to me and for free, I REALLY wanted to go. Unfortunately, I got caught smoking pot in my room minutes before I took off to the concert and got grounded :/ i was sooo mad and soo stoned.

There's nothing wrong with autotuning, it's just the people like T-Pain that use it in every damn song instead of using it as an effect. Ezra can actually sing, T-Pain can't, and that's the difference.

@packman26 I disagree with you on auto-tune and t-pain singing. T-Pain actually sings well without auto-tune (set aside his wack lyrics and cheesy song subjects). He uses it way too much. I wouldnt compare Ezra and T-Pain, they have two different styles. Its wrong in almost all instances to use Auto-Tune. I find California English to be really annoying for this reason (set aside that California English is not all valley girl talk). Even more irritating is his testing of it in live performances.

@packman26 BTW, I obviously think that Ezra can sing, but as a fan of Vampire Weekend, I was really upset that they chose to use Auto-Tune. I'm willing to forgive VW though if they will stop using or at least restrict it to one song per album (which I will of course delete). On a different note though, the dialect of English I've spoken for all my life and which gives this song its title is way more than valley talk. As a Latino, I wish Ezra could have better covered CA's diversity in this song.

@packman26 Interestingly enough, though I do agree with you that rappers like T-Pain overuse it, he is a good singer. I've heard clips of him singing without autotune, he actually has a good voice. Why he chooses not to utilize it, i don't know.

Ezra's voice seems to lend really well to AutoTune. I think on the album it's going to be brilliant. This might be my fav new song I've heard off of Contra. Bummer about the quality, but thanks so much for posting nonetheless.
