Its not as deep as SF3 but then thats kind of the point - it's more accessable. The FOCUS attack is a PARRY 'lite' to add depth to the old SF2 style of play (you CAN mix it up in combos). These kids don't know shit (no offense) - MK VS DC is NOT a Capcom game. Of the 3D styling and 2D play - how did the move to 3D go for King Of Fighters, the nearest thing to Street Fighter? It was shit, obviously - how was Street Fighter EX (3D)? It was shit.. There you go; Street Fighter does not work in 3D!

I think my biggest beef with SF4 (witch i gave a 3/5 witch is a good score) is that it feels pritty much the same as the original SF witch is 20 years old. . . So it feels a little aged right out of the box. . . . but there are people who like SF no mater what and those that just dont like it. . .so thats that.

Yea. Even the best street fighter players in world said that SFIV isn't that good. They each said that if you want a game to play competetively, you should play either Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, Capcom vs Snk 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Marvel Vs Capcom 2. I have all of them and they are better than Street Fighter IV. Also Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha is the best in the EX Series. You should check it out.

i think what we are seeing here is a game that casual gamers like and hardcore gamers (such as your self) don't.

I, a Suikoden 2 fan found this game to be a ship load of fun. arts great, controls are good, characters...still don't care about any of them but overall i would have given it a 4 out of 5.

What I think you're not understanding is that it's a first impression review, it's like playing a game for the first time and telling your buddies how it went and you'd probably say it in the same way Mike did: "I haven't played x game enough to really go in-depth, but based on my first couple playthroughs I will say x" that's defending Mike, but as I said in my other comment his buddies did give some irrelevant points such as basing sound solely on the voice acting.

Or graphics solely on a 2D vs. 3D argument rather than how the characters interact, how fluidly they move, etc. Mike's review at the end was objective he based it on his first impression. What I think people are giving him shit for is from his buddies bias towards other points (example the 2D vs. 3D argument)

Well, not only am I a MK fan, but I love Street Fighter as well. Yeah, MK changed over the years with different gameplay styles and such, But SF is good the way it is and should not change all that much.

Heres the problem with this review, 3rd strike is VASTLY different from SF4 and your basically having him state how its different from 3s. as for the MvC fan, that is like a team based fighter, which once again is a completely different breed. Find a fan of SF2 and have him review the game and see how he likes it. I mean shit, I am a huge Guilty Gear Fan, which is even more different from the entire capcom line and it was still one of my favorite fighting games

Yes I have rent it and I was bored after 1 hour. Nothing new. It's a street fighter 2 remake. Also you cannot move in 3d like in mk vs dc and you always have to jump or duck if you want not to be hit by a projectile. I feel like I am a prisoner when I play this game. My score? 7/10. A remake of SF2? Hardly. The only things that resemble it are the fact you can't block in air and the cast. Besides that it plays nothing similar. Dashing, Back Dashing, EX moves, different physics, much more advanced juggling, focusing, focus cancels, focus canceling specials, how throws are handled, Ultras, how supers are handled, quick recovery. The list goes on. It takes and builds on more of the later mechanics of the series.

Also, it was never advertised as being a 3d fighter. Since the very first gameplay details were released, it was known this would be a 2d based fighter. And ducking and jumping are not what you always have to do to avoid projectiles. You can trade with other projectiles. You can use focus to autoguard the first hit. You can EX many moves to autoguard through projectiles. And you still have the mass amounts of moves that go through projectiles (Balrog's headbutt, Zangief's Lariat, etc.).

Next you should make a video where the game is reviewed by people who a) know anything about fighting games and can play them at least a little competently, b) are aware that SFIV is not a 3D fighter and has never claimed to be, c) can figure out that the reason it doesn't play like SFIII is because it's not (they even changed the number to help out the slower folks) and d) can find criticism other than "it's just like the old one," especially after whining that it's not like the old one. No, I don't suck at SF 3, I used to enjoy the game for about 7 months and then put it away. SF III isn't for everyone. I used to be best With Ken and Chun-Li with local tournaments we had around here at the arcade that used to have the game. Then the Dreamcast version game out and it was a fun 7 months. I don't suck at SF III, I just can't stand the game and the music is TERRIBLE. SF IV puts what I REALLY MISS about *Street Fighter* and adds it back into the game play. SF III SUCKS!!!!!

1)A lot of the fireballs are piss poor slow

2)As long as it's not a multi hitting fireball, Focus will absorb it

3)You still have moves that go through fireballs (Balrog's Headbutt, Zangief's Lariat)

4)Many of the EX moves also have 1 hit autoguard on them

But, fireballs actually have some sort of purpose in this SF. You can still control space with them. Parries made fireballs completely useless.
