If only the world would divest itself of political opinion that has no clue about the facts,
then perhaps we might be spared the insult from folks who know so little, or nothing at all, about what truly inspired the Rev. Edmund Hamilton Sears on a cold December day in 1849 to write his memorable poem "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear." If you had taken the time to learn the carol's third verse and the character of Rev. Sears, you may have been less inclined to vent your spleen.
